On Saturday, Syracuse will make its first trip to Gampel Pavillion since February
5th, 2007 11th, 2009 (like much of my freshman year, my memory of this game seems to be a bit hazy). The UConn-Syracuse rivalry has been so strong since the mid-90s that the game almost always warrants a move to Hartford, CT's XL Center, the arena where the Huskies play most of their big game, which seats around 6,000 more fans than Gampel. However, following their improbably run to a title last season, they were selected to host ESPN's College Gameday this year, so the game will take place in the campus arena.
The move to Gampel will consequently limit the amount of Syracuse fans who make the trip this weekend. As is normal for SU games throughout the northeast, the games in Hartford always attract a fair amount of orange. Gampel is significantly smaller, and getting tickets to a big game is quite difficult.
We got tickets.
My partner-in-crime Ben and I will be heading out to Storrs tomorrow afternoon for Saturday's game. While Saturday night's game should be interesting, we would be doing everyone a disservice if we didn't crash Saturday morning's airing of College Gameday, which UConn has so generously made open to the public.
This is where you guys come in.
The fan signs are always a big part of Gameday, so we need your help in coming up with ideas for what we can try to get on ESPN.
Leave your ideas in the comment field, or drop me a line on Twitter. I'll be posting about the trip throughout the weekend.
