The Street Stops Here doc
Random DVD recommendation...The Streets Stop Here. Documentary all about Bob Hurley, Sr, head coach of St. Anthony's in Jersey City where he's won a kajillion State titles and usually has one of the best programs in the nation.
The stuff about Hurley was expected (he's a dick but a dick that cares) but the really interesting thing is following the players, who get a ton of the focus. They include a whole bunch of guys now playing in the NCAAs like Florida's Mike Rosario, Villanova's Dominic Cheek and Kansas' Tyshawn Taylor.
The most interesting part to me was watching Rosario. Long before he was known for taking Jonny Flynn's crotch to the face, he was a way-too-hard-on-himself 17-year-old who scored 30 points a night but seemed pissed he didn't score 40. Lends a lot of insight into how and why he ended up hating Rutgers and transferring.
It's on Netflix.

The documentary is good.
However, do yourself the favor and also read The Miracle of Saint Anthony’s.
Did someone mention Mike Rosario?

I hated that moment, honestly
I just watched the clip and was reminded of how I felt when I saw it live. The play itself was great, however, it was the braggadocio and cocky behavior right after it that I took offense to. Their attitude at that moment was not what I believe is the proper good sportsmanship attitude that I come to expect from Syracuse basketball.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh, wait, you’re serious?
This ain’t little league, buddy. When you’re 5-10 (generous) and you tea bag someone in their own gym, you can talk a little smack.
Great moment. Stop getting your panties in a bunch.

I agree that after a good dunk
strutting around and acting like you are king is not good sportsmanship. But if you were at that game you knew that that game was TIGHT… we were the better team but Rutgers was playing hard and you feel the sense whoever made the next big play was going to take the win. Our offense was terrible.. I remember johnny looked behind the basket…ALL ORANGE we were very well represented that night. I remember him almost winking at us…he took off and threw it DOWN. The place went crazy…RUTGERS got a techniqual foul. It was the game changing… and therefore game winning play… when that happens you gotta strut… jonny is a winner and a competitor he is exactly what I except from Syracuse basketball.
acurrier would blow a gasket watching blake griffin gloat after his dunks...

The dunk was sick
Without a doubt. But the crossover to get in the lane was just as nasty.

Yeah, I randomly watched it a couple months ago on Netflix
It was pretty good. I liked how it seemed like everyone’s main goal was to get the F out of New Jersey.
Saw that last year
Thought it was really good. Bob Hurley is the man.

sucks though. Way to blow your shot at the NBA man. And now that I live in Sacto, I get to complain about all the picks that the Kings have blown, even though I wasn’t a fan before 2 years ago.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Hurley
Is a guy in it for all the right reasons. Unlike some of the HS and AAU coaches out there these days. I enjoyed the doc a lot. Hurley is very old school. Interesting to me that Syracuse has only had one kid from St. Anthony’s play for us – Terence Roberts.
If you’re in the market for a great read on youth / AAU basketball, take a look at They Played Their Hearts Out. Hurley looks like a saint compared to these bottom feeders. Great book.
