The Syracuse Orange had two spaces to fill on their 2012 football schedule and it looks like they've filled the first one.
According to Newsday, the Syracuse Orange will take on the Stony Brook Seawolves on September 15th in the Carrier Dome.
That completes the first four weeks of the schedule, which now begins with a home game against the Northwestern Wildcats (9/1) followed by a game against the mighty USC Trojans in New Jersey (9/8), the home tilt against Stony Brook (9/15) and the first true road game of the year against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (9/22).
The Long Island school seems to be playing one of our 1913 schedules as they're also taking on Colgate, Army and Presbyterian.
The Seawolves (wait, what the hell is a Seawolf?) are a FCS school since 1999 when they moved up from Division II. They've been on a pretty good upswing thanks to coach Chuck Priore. After hanging out around .500 for five seasons, the S'Wolves jumped to 9-4 last year and made it to the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs. They also won their conference for the third consecutive year.
They're no stranger to playing FBS opponents, losing to Buffalo (35-7) and UTEP (31-24) last year. In 2010 they went to South Florida and got run over by the Bulls 59-14.
