Help Finding Poetry
I was hoping some one here may be able to help me or point me in the right direction. Lawrence Moten is my all time favorite OrangeMEN. When I was about 12 my father bought me an authentic Syracuse #21 jersey. Unfortunately it was the style from his senior year and not the classic cursive version, but still cool nonetheless. Well that jersey has stayed with me all these years and been displayed in dorm rooms, frat houses, apartments and offices. I no longer wear it as I don't look great in a basketball jersey haha. So my hope is that I can somehow find a way to get Moten the jersey for him to sign so I can finally have it framed and permanently displayed. I have not had much luck figuring out how I would go about doing that. Does anyone have any advice or even better a good answer as to how I could go about doing that? I also have a Sherman Douglas jersey I would love to get signed for my father as a gift as Sherm was his favorite player. I hope the Nunes community can help me out! G'ORANGE!
P.S. it's 12:58 PM and Georgetown still sucks.

One way to get his information
You should file a defamation law suit against the University and Jim Boeheim in New York City. After filing the law suit, file a motion of discovery to get names and addresses of all Syracuse Players from 1988-1995. This will get you both Sherman’s and Moten’s addresses (bonus). It should be no problem, I’m sure you could get Gloria Alred to represent you, just don’t tell her you are out for autographs.

Creativity
This is the enterprising spirit that Cuse fans are known for. I was never a ball boy though. I guess I could say the Dome Ranger inappropriately touched me. Guy was kind of creepy.

Try the athletics department
One of the sports info directors may be able to arrange it for you.

He was at the UConn game
Me and StrawHat walked past him while we were down by the floor during pregame. It was funny, we were right by the student section, and I don’t think any of them knew who he was. They knew who Nerlens Noel was, though, when he walked by (the HTF is even more deific in person). I gotta start bringing a Sharpie when I go to games, and get my jersey signed. I’ve already missed out on Moten and DC.

So sad so sad
that they’ll never know the sweetness of Moten. Guy could light it up from anywhere. Still is one of my two favorite Cuse players. Shame we didn’t do more when he was here. Shame he couldn’t get more of a shot in the NBA.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Gerry
is the only guy who’s comparable in my book, not b/c he was a better player, but b/c he did so much with his talent, such a grinder.

MSG.
When we play at MSG he’s usually kicking around.

#21 should hang from the Dome rafters.
And I’ll never understand why it doesn’t. Not only the all time leading scorer at SU but the all time leading scorer in Big East history. How is it that this hasn’t happened yet?
Go Orange!
Good question

Maybe b/c
they have to wait 20 years after they leave? That would be the only explanation I could think of. But seriously, let’s get on this.

Especially since
they’ve already talked about putting Carmelo up there

No way Carmelo should go before moten. I love melo, but moten defined college basketball.
Silky smooth. Always in right place.
sat right behind moten
at the g’town game. me, " lawrence, i’m one of your biggest fans. all time leading scorer for SU!" Moten, " all time leader in the big east, my man"

My quick Moten story
Moten was always my favorite Orangman as well (I still have the replica jersey from his senior year (and I like it more than the script).
I went to UAlbany and covered the basketball team there. I think it was at the beginning of the ‘02-’03 season. UAlbany had a home exhibition game against some traveling team that I can’t exactly remember the name of. I recognized a few names on the roster from the college ranks of years past.
But I nearly fell over when I saw one Lawrence Moten on the list. I quickly called a few of my friends on campus who were also Cuse fans and they all ran over to our completely empty gym to watch Poetry. Now, I’d love to recall him running a clinic on everyone, but that’s not how it happened. He was already getting up there in years by that time, and didn’t really stand out in the game.
After the game, I had a chance to chat with him, and he could not have been a cooler guy. I mostly remember him talking about his kids, and how great it was to still get out on the court once in a while. He posed for a picture with me, which would be hanging on my wall right now. But this was pre-digital photography (for the Albany Student Press at least). When the developed film came back, it was the only shot on the roll that was indecipherable.
I think that loss hurt more than ’96.
