NCAA lacrosse's Heisman Trophy, the Tewaaraton Award, has put out its men's and women's watch list for the 2012 season and Syracuse is all over both of them.

For the men, redshirt senior attackman Tim Desko, junior midfielder JoJo Marasco junior defenseman Brian Megill made the cut.

Desko was an All-Big East Second Team selection in 2010, recording 19 points on the year, including 16 goals in ten games. His season was limited by injuries.

Marasco is the current wearer of the famed No. 22 and looking to cement his status among the greats that have worn it. Last year he was named a USILA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Big East Second Team selection. He was tied for the team lead in points (41) and assists (18) and second in goals (23).

As you might imagine, it's pretty hard for a defenseman to win this award. Megill led all SU defenseman with 27 caused turnovers and was fourth on the squad in ground balls (34) last year. He was named to the All-Big East Second Team.

Syracuse has three previous Men's Tewaaraton Award courtesy of Mikey Powell ('02, '04) and Mike Leveille ('08).

Over on the women's side, the Orange are represented by junior attack Michelle Tumolo and sophomore midfielder Katie Webster.

All Tumolo did last year was lead the team in scoring with 66 points (33 goals, 33 assists) and recover 21 ground balls, good for second-best She was a member of the All-Big East First Team.

Webster was second on the team in goals (31) and fourth in scoring (37 points) last season and is expected to put up even better numbers this year.

No Syracuse Orange women's player has ever won the award, which is insane when you remember how good Katie Rowan was.

All of these lists are fairly silly since the season hasn't even started yet. In late April, both lists will be narrowed to 25 players. In mid-May, the five finalists in each category will be announced. These finalists will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, which will take place on May 31st.

Head on over to College Crosse to talk about it some more. Glaude is waiting...
