Just heard him on when I was in the car. Not sure if anyone else heard it, but it was quite a bit of insight. Among the things he said:
-The playing Rutgers twice thing is not happening. Period. Where that rumor came from is beyond him, but there was never any discussion regarding that from our end, maybe there was at Rutgers. But not at SU. For one thing, there is zero desire to play anyone twice. The other thing is that, if Syracuse is playing any games in the NYC area they will be at MetLife Stadium (besides the road game at Rutgers), not at Yankee Stadium (unless it's the Pinstripe Bowl).
-He called WV's settlement an insane (or something along those lines) amount to pay. Syracuse and Pitt are basically just two teams looking to move conferences and there isn't a whole lot else to it. WV and the Big 12 were in a different position and must have something in their TV contract that kicks in with their addition. Otherwise Wv got bitch slapped by the Big East. For us or Pitt to make a similar payment would cost us about 3 years worth of money (not quite sure where he was getting that number, I'm sure someone here can speak to that). This eliminates leaving in 2012. It isn't happening. That statement from him also seems like it throws leaving in 2013 into question if the payout is even $10 million, no? He did say Pitt could decide to pony that cash up and leave separately from us, but that doesn't seem likely.
-Scheduling is going to be problematic for a lot of teams for a few years. He said it was a miracle we were able to pick up Stony Brook on our schedule when we did.
-The new Denzel Washington movie is "not his best work" but you still can't go wrong with Denzel.
