eff that

Just bring back the curtain and give them TV’s with some plastic tables and chairs behind it.

That area im guessing

Is part of the student section, but the students didn’t show up.

Nope. It was taped off for some reason. No idea why.

by Dan Lyons on Feb 12, 2012 3:16 PM EST up reply actions

We need to increase the size of the movable bleachers behind the curtain

They could go up another 20-30 rows if they got a “second deck” for behind the curtain. That would get us a bunch more seats and much better viewing angles than the angle in this photo.

I hope when we have a 1 vs 2 game vs duke or UNC in the ACC, they finally find a way to center the court in the middle of the dome and open the whole stadium up. It would be worth doing at least once for novelty sake.

They have the plans for that already in place

by Dan Lyons on Feb 13, 2012 11:17 AM EST up reply actions

I think both have been looked at. Depends on what number they want to hit

by Dan Lyons on Feb 13, 2012 1:17 PM EST up reply actions

But wouldn’t taller bleachers reduce the number of “long range view” seats that can actually see the court? That might not be a net gain at all.

I thought that was the reason they got rid of the curtain in the first place, to provide for more seats in the 334-ish sections that can see the game.

Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a Q-tip

They wouldn’t be taller bleachers, they’d move the side section back and add more bleachers in I believe. I’m not 100% sure of the logistics.

Is Syracuse hosting NCAA games

Anytime soon? Last I heard they couldn’t host a Final Four because the city didn’t have the hotel/accommodations capacity. I saw a sweet sixteen game there I think in 2002 maybe? They could open it up then?

Cuse hosted the Regionals in 2002, 2005 and 2010.

And the set up for all 3 was the same as it is now, but had the curtain up.

We aren’t on the future list at this time, but next year does not have an East Region site selected yet, although online speculation is that the NCAA is trying to get it at MSG.

Go Cuse!
....And Georgetown still sucks!

Isn't that against NCAA rules

Since MSG is a conference tournament site?

by cuse2012 on Feb 13, 2012 12:56 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah,

and since Duke and UNC always have a bye in the ACC tourney, they never play more than 3 games there, thus allowing them to be placed there.

What About in Philly

Didn’t Nova play in the Wachovia Center for the tourney a few years ago? They play quite a few reg season games there

by MarshallSt on Feb 13, 2012 2:37 PM EST up reply actions

I think it would in theory prevent some big east teams from being in that region.

I think the rule is if you play more than 3 games in an arena, it’s considered a home arena.

That would be a nightmare scheduling for the tourney committee

With all of the teams that play at St. John’s (or does playing a road game there not count?), in the BE tourney and one or two preseason tournament/neutral site games there, pretty much every Big East team capable of making the tournament would have to be out of that region.
