National Signing Day, Syracuse Recruiting: Mark Garrick Held Up Due To Torn ACL
Mark Garrick was one of three California JUCO lineman that the Syracuse Orange received verbal commitments from as part of their 2012 recruiting class. However, Garrick did not send over his LOI on Wednesday for National Signing Day.
Did he bail on us? Is he on his way to FIU? No and no. Via Orange Fizz, it turns out that Garrick suffered a torn ACL in his final game and is waiting on an evaluation before finalizing his plans.
The Fizz explains that the injury was originally thought to be a sprained MCL, but was revealed to be much worse. Garrick had surgery on the tear on Jan 23rd.
Garrick told Fizz that he can still sign with the Orange but it's pending approval by the Syracuse University medical staff. Sucky situation for Garrick but it is what it is.
Garrick garnered 54 tackles in 10 games for the Panthers last season and was named to the 2011 Mid-Empire All-Conference Team.
