We had been hearing it since Tuesday but it's official today on National Signing Day...Wayne Morgan will play football for the Syracuse Orange and not the Connecticut Huskies.
The 5'11", 190 pound DB from Brooklyn was a must-get for Syracuse as it continues to try and lock down New York, and specifically NYC.
Stat Me: A four-year starter for the Erasmus High Dutchmen, he earned the nickname "Lights Out" for his play at cornerback, Morgan also threw for 773 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 600 yards and six more scores as a senior.
Rivals says...three stars, 27th best at his position and fifth-best recruit in New York.
Scout says...three stars.
ESPN says...four-stars and a Scout Grade of 80, which sounds good. He's also among the ESPN’s Top 150.
Who's Crying?: UConn, clearly. Also, Penn State, who got involved in the recruiting process "too late."
Money Quote: "I've been talking to the coaches for about two and a half, three years, so I was already comfortable with the coaches," Morgan told MSG Varsity in an exclusive interview Tuesday morning. "I knew most of the players already. I liked the campus, everything about it."
Which SU Coach Gets A Bonus?: Not sure exactly though I'm guessing Doug Marrone made a special push for a fellow NYC kid.
Fun Fact: Made a pact with Syracuse CB Brandon Reddish to play together in college. Fulfilled that pact.
Twitter Handle: Not that I can find but let me know if you find it.
