You don't get everything you want on National Signing Day. While the Orange are racking up some impressive gets Wednesday, there are a few fish that got away worth noting and keep an eye on through their careers.
Tashon Whitehurst, who had verbally-committed to Syracuse months ago, was considered a soft verbal who started leaning towards the South Florida Bulls. He ended up choosing the Bulls today over the Orange and Rutgers.
Syracuse was hoping to add Whitehurst (6-foor-2, 190-pounds) and pair him with three-star defensive back Wayne Morgan (Brooklyn, NY), who just sent his letter of intent to SU. Rutgers was hopeful to had Whitehurst to its already outstanding recruiting class, which has cracked Rivals' top 25.
Meanwhile, the Orange got late interest from Julian Pinnix-Odrick, the No. 23-ranked defensive end overall according to Rivals. He had to pick between SU and Rutgers and he went with his initial choice, Rutgers. Pinnix-Odrick is now a part of what's being considered Rutgers' best recruiting class ever, a parting gift from Greg Schiano.
Fare thee well, gentlemen. Great success to you...except when you play us.
