National Signing Day, Syracuse Recruiting: SU Will Recruit Anyone Nicknamed D-Mac
If you followed my "Catching Up With the Commits" posts this fall, you noticed one weekly statline that was generally...eye-popping at the very least. DeVante McFarlane played quarterback and running back for Half Hollow Hills West on Long Island, and in many ways, was a one man wrecking crew. He had multiple 200+ yard rushing games, and was the reason for many a HHHW victory this season.
DeVante sent out a few nerve-wracking tweets last night, but ultimately he ended up Orange.
Stat Me: In DeVante's season opener, he carried the ball 17 times for 277 yards and four touchdowns. He might be decent.
Rivals says...three stars and the number six prospect in New York.
Scout says...three stars and the number 74 running back in the nation.
ESPN says...two stars and a grade of 73. They rate him as the 147th best back in the country, the 247th best player in the region, and the 17th best player in New York.
Who's Crying?: Buffalo and Vanderbilt. He had a brief flirtation with Penn State, but it does not seem like they offered.
Money Quote: "To the syracuse fans I love you guys. Signing days tomorrow and I it will be official tomorrow I'm playing for the cuse #finaldecision"
Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: John Anselmo and Doug Marrone worked their NYC magic.
Fun Fact: Besides QB and HB, DeVante lended his skills at receiver, outside linebacker, safety, and both kick and punt returner for Half Hollow Hills West this season.
