Upon leaving the Big East Conference, West Virginia University chose not to continue it's rivalry with Syracuse University with full knowledge that, since Thier longtime rivals won the last game (last 2 actually), the Schwartzwalder Trophy, they now seemingly hold so dear, would forever reside in Syracuse NY. They knew, but didn't care. WVU was moving on to bigger and better things in the Big 12 Conference. WVU, it's fans an alum didn't give a hoot about the Schwartzwalder Trophy. They wanted a clean break. But like a misbehaving, fickle-minded child who doesn't want a toy until he's told he can't have it, the WVU family didn't want to play the University of Pittsburgh (they declined to renew that series too) until they were a potential Pinstripe Bowl opponent. They didn't want to play Syracuse until they didn't get Pittsburgh. They couldn't care less about the Schwartzwalder Trophy until they found out it wouldn't be up for competition. Suddenly, they can't care enough. Too bad. If WVU wants a shot at the Schwartzwalder Trophy, they know where to find it. They know what to do. They know which country roads will lead them to it. All they have to do is travel them, we'll be sure to do the same. As for this game; This game is all about Pinstripes. We can address WVU's sour grapes and hurt feelings another time...if they want us to. Or not.
