Jim Boeheim didn't fly all the way to San Diego just to play basketball in a casino. If Jim Boeheim agrees to play basketball on top of an aircraft carrier, then who the hell is going to stop him? God, with his weather patterns? NOPE.
The game will be played as intended but instead of Friday, November 9th, the Syracuse Orange will now take on San Diego St. Aztecs on Sunday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
The official announcement of the date change should come at 7 p.m. today, sources said. At that point, any further logistical information should be available.
The forecast for Sunday in San Diego calls for temperatures in the high 60s, with winds at 8 mph. There is no chance for rain.
Concerns about Friday rain and wind threatened to move the game indoors to the Valley View Casino Center, which would have brought with it all kinds of logistics and ticketing nightmares. Instead, cooler heads prevailed in realizing that the location, not the date, was the most important thing.
Of course, there are still logistical issues, namely the many Syracuse fans who flew into San Diego and bought hotel rooms that end on Sunday to take flights back to wherever they came from on Sunday. Plus there are a whole bunch of events planned for Friday that will need to be moved.
