Syracuse claimed a share of the Big East crown last night and the players were excited, to say the least.
As a fan, it's often hard to put yourself inside the shoes of the Syracuse Orange football players themselves.
First of all, they're all really big guys so their shoes probably won't fit you.
Second of all, we spend a lot of time dealing with big pictures stuff, like what the rest of the country thinks of us, what bowl we deserve or what the true value of a conference title is. It's easy to forget these are the people actually doing all the hard work and, therefore, deserve to enjoy any spoils that come with it.
So it was a pleasure to watch the guys celebrate after Louisville defeated Rutgers, giving SU a share of the 2012 Big East Conference Title.
"It was ecstatic in there," Crume said. "This is a family-oriented team, man."
"We ran outside and screamed across the campus," SU linebacker Cameron Lynch said. "We were happy."
"This is my first major accomplishment in college, as far as winning something as a team and as a unit," Crume said. "It’s one of my top moments in my whole life."
Loved this tidbit from Cam Lynch about what he thinks changed the season around.
Lynch credits the turnaround that made it all possible in part to head coach Doug Marrone adjusting his coaching style. He said Marrone became more involved with the players, talking to them more and arguing more calls on the sideline.
Some other highlights from the celebration...
Hey, remember when Joey Galloway picked Syracuse to win the Big East and everyone had a good chuckle?
Make sure you watch this video of the SU football players reacting to Louisville's big play as they watch the game together.
Some great player tweets from last night, including Zack Chibane's reminder of his recruiting class ranking, Justin Pugh thanking the fans, this photo of Zack, Justin & Andrew Phillips celebrating, and of course this photo courtesy of #SHAMARKO Thomas:
Someone better Photoshop some flower bouquets into those guy's hands quickly...
