Just Relax: Why I Believe Marrone's Staying Put

All this talk on here about the chances Marrone jumps to the NFL, while certainly entertaining, is for nothing. Now I know that anything can happen, but here's something that may ease your unsettledness. Is that a word?

Early last year, the PS put a blurb out there for anyone who wanted to ask Marrone a question to submit one. They would have a "10 Questions for Doug Marrone" piece in the next issue of CNY Sports Magazine. I had one, and it got published in the magazine. While I don't have a link to it, I'll try to duplicate it as best I can. Keep in mind I wrote this before any of the shenanigans came to light at PSU.

Q: Coach, I've always said that you would become our Paterno or Bowden. What I mean by that, is that you will be very successful, to point where you need to get driven out of town in your 70's. If it was up to you, being your dream job, do you see yourself staying here at Syracuse until the point where you retire? Signed, ME
A: I don't know about 70. First of all, I think this day in age, it's very hard to do what Paterno and Bowden have been able to do. Today if you have 1 or 2 bad years, do you still have a job? That's not up to me to decide. I can't control that. That being said, yes, I do see myself retiring here. I would like to do some other things when my kids are a little older, such as traveling. But yeah, I'd say 65.

There ya have it. Straight from the horses mouth. I for one will be VERY unhappy if he were to ever leave. I'm one of the guys that just feels right about this guy. Nothing's ever gonna be perfect, but this guys producing on and off the field. And I think that's how it should be. He's making good football, and making good men.
