Transitive Property

Syracuse doesn't beat respected programs outside the Big East often. Most of our nonconference wins over the past few years have come against the Akrons, Tulanes and Toledos of the world. The beauty of beating a power conference team is you can play the fun (if completely and utterly irrelevant) transitive property game.

Case in point: SU is better than Oregon this year.*

Follow along if you don't get carsick easily ...

  • Syracuse beat Missouri
  • Missouri beat Arizona State
  • Arizona State beat Cal
  • Cal beat UCLA
  • UCLA beat Arizona
  • Arizona beat Washington
  • Washington beat Stanford
  • Stanford beat Oregon

Therefore, Syracuse should clearly be in the discussion for the national championship. Thank you, your honor, I rest my case.

Notes: When I started this exercise I thought it would end in the SEC, which was the goal. But because Missouri has been awful in conference, that wasn't happening.

This might say a lot about the Pac 12, as seemingly everyone has beaten everyone by transitive property. Strange year for that conference. USC is also involved in that mix but I left them out because they beat Syracuse, which would only hurt my fake and irrational case.

*Obviously I don't think Syracuse is better than Oregon, so chill out angry rational bro ... this was for fun.
