After learning that top DT Sheldon Richardson would be suspended and miss the game against the Syracuse Orange, word is now out that RB/PR/KR star Marcus Murphy might also miss the game due to an injury.
A suspension for one top player and now an injury for another? I swear, the Missouri Tigers are having a very Syracuse-esque week before the Orange come town.
After learning that top DT Sheldon Richardson would be suspended and miss the game against the Syracuse Orange, word is now out that RB/PR/KR star Marcus Murphy might also miss the game due to an injury.
This is huge news for the Orange as Murphy is everything that we fear. A speedy kick returner who has brought four kicks back for touchdowns and can change the momentum of a game at will.
No other player in college football has as many returns for scores as Murphy, and his punt (18.9) and kickoff return averages (33.2) are in the top four nationally.
"He does what he does naturally," Coach Gary Pinkel said. "I don't think you can coach that, or I don't think you can teach it. He has that gift."
"He's just a step quicker than you think he is," Moe said. "Henry did that a lot last year. He's not where you think he's going to be when you try to tackle him. He just gets away from you."
The team's No. 1 kickoff and punt returner, he was basically the real-life version of Tecmo Super Bowl Dave Meggett.
The signs are starting to pile up that Syracuse can and should win this game, but, it remains to be seen if the Tigers can rally around the players still active.
