Michael Ivins-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Three Syracuse players made the Big East media's preseason All Big East teams while only two of them made it for the coaches.
The Big East media and coaches have spoken about how good they think the Syracuse Orange (No. 2 across the board). They also broke it down to say which players they think are among the best in the conference.
First the writers, who put a few Orange on their All-Big East Teams, though not on the first one.
Syracuse placed three players on the Big East second-team -- senior guard Brandon Triche, junior forward C.J. Fair and sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams. The three Orange players were joined on the second team by Louisville's Chane Behanan and Gorgui Dieng and St. John's D'Angelo Harrison. There were six players on the second team due to a tie.
Over on the coaches side, they were a little less giving for the Orange. Only two SU players made the list:
The coaches' second team consisted of Syracuse's Brandon Triche, Connecticut's Shabazz Napier, DePaul's Cleveland Melvin, St. John's D'Angelo Harrison and South Florida's Anthony Collins.
Syracuse's C.J. Fair was one of four players to receive honorable mention.
Siva was their PPOY as well.
Now, don't get all worked up about this. No. 1, we're talking about preseason polls. No. 2, it's pretty fair. Triche has yet to show 1st-team ability, C.J. the same. MC Dubz is all potential right now. As for Rakeem Christmas, James Southerland and the rest, let this be motivation fellas.
