Would you prefer that the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team trade in its fancy-schmancy uniform for something similar to the uniform the womens team wears? That question was posed on Twitter this weekend and it's a question we shall answer right now.
We all know the men's uniform. At this point we've come to accept it and not really notice it. However, some facts remains...
- Busy shorts. There's all that stuff going on up and down the sides.
- All that silver/gray/platinum. Especially in the numbers.
- Personally, I've never been a fan of the boxing shorts-style waistband.
- There's that design on the back that made Nike cream all over itself and yet no one cares or even notices it anymore.
This will be Year 3 of this design, which in Nike years is 50 years, so expect them to change sooner or later. If they do change soon, how do you feel about getting something like what the women's team is wearing?
Their home uni is white with the same block "Syracuse" across the chest. The numbers? They're actually orange too! The shorts still have some lines on the side but are much cleaner than the random boxes of the men's uni.
Now, the team wears a blue uni (sacrilege!) instead of an orange one. I'm not advocating for that all the time for the men but there's something to be said for the simplicity of it, not to mention the way the orange names and numbers really pop on it. If Syracuse ever decided to remember that blue is one of its colors for men's basketball, this is the way to go.
Of course, we'd want an orange version of this. If that's the case, swap every place where the uniform is blue with orange and vice versa. Leave the silver crap out of this.
So there you go. If given the choice, which uniform set would you prefer for the men's team?
