Syracuse University football seniors Antwon Bailey and Andrew Tiller have been selected to participate in the Casino Del Sol All-Star game at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in Tuscon, Ariz. Each was a first-team All-Big East selection this season, and Tiller "tweeted" recently that he has also been invited to next month's NFL Draft Combine.

Big East efficiency margins, 1-9-12 - Rumble In The Garden
The Syracuse Orange have been obviously dominant, and no other team is close. They have been deadly on offense inside the arc and very good outside the arc. On defense, they're a notch behind Cincinnati in some categories - and have played Providence and DePaul, so take the numbers with a little grain of salt. They're stealing the ball and blocking shots at elite levels, and Dion Waiters may be the best sixth man in the country, continuing the promise in the counting stats that he showed last season in limited time.

Fouls on the downswing, Syracuse's go-to guy, more Hoop Thoughts - Seth Davis - SI.com
The biggest question I have about Syracuse right now -- really the only question -- is to what degree this team's biggest strength (balance) becomes its primary weakness (lack of a go-to guy). Think of it this way: If it's a regional final, and it's late in the game and late in the shot clock, who gets the ball? It should be Kris Joseph, but he doesn't have a takeover personality. It might be Scoop Jardine, but he's not a great shooter and tends to be careless. Brandon Triche? He's solid but not spectacular. It will probably end up being Dion Waiters, but given that he's a sophomore who comes off the bench, is that really ideal? This is a good problem to have, but it is a problem.

Syracuse: Instead of giving pause to how good the Orange is, Syracuse’s survival win against Marquette only enforced just why Jim Boeheim’s team is the best in the country. The Orange needed to be tested and was, giving up most of a 23-point lead. Yet Cuse dug in to gut out the win.

For the past two seasons, Jim Boeheim’s team has gotten off to roaring starts in the beginning of the season only to falter in the field of 68 — but this team is different. With a plethora of options off the bench and a soothing mix and experience and youth, Boeheim may finally have his best chance to win his second title and ironically enough he’d have to do it where he won his first one — New Orleans.

One thing is clear right now: Syracuse is No. 1 in the Big East and in the nation. Marquette put up a fight late but Syracuse didn't panic Saturday. The "Are they really No. 1 in the nation?" questions must stop.

With the win, the Orange improve to 4-0 in Big East play and are now the only undefeated team in conference play. What looked like it would be a somewhat tough stretch over the next 3 games no longer looks so daunting.

Here's what we learned on Saturday - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN
Syracuse still has a tendency for defensive lulls. Marquette scored 47 points in the second half to make the game a lot more interesting than anyone could have imagined during a 23-1 first-half run by Syracuse. But the Orange continue to get tremendous balance from their deep rotation, and they continue to rise to various challenges from teams -- road environment at Providence and a tough challenge from Marquette this week -- and are always able to finish. This is the No. 1 team in America, and it deserves to be the No. 1 team in America.
The Syracuse basketball team remains at #1 for yet another week with wins over Providence and Marquette. Also, the long awaited return of Kenny's Quick Hits.

Why is this a problem? You state its a problem, then negate it as a problem by what your argument, then state its a problem again. I think anyone who WATCHES Syracuse knows who its going to be. Its going to be the hot hand. It could be Triche, Waiters, Scoop or Joseph. A lot of options. He also states Kris Joseph doesn’t have the takeover mentality, and I really beg to differ on that. He has come up HUGE in the games where we needed him. Once again, its a balanced team, so he rarely has to. He doesn’t do it for every game.
He is caught up still in the ghastly mentality that a team will NEED this player down the stretch. On a lot of teams, he would be accurate, but with a team as balanced as Syracuse, its whoever is the hot shooter that night.
Waiters. No doubt.
Triche would level an opponent and draw a charge, Kris would dribble off of his foot and turn it over, Scoop either throws a 200 mph heater at Fab’s waist, throws up an off-balanced three, or drives the line, gets fouled and misses his attempts.
Waiters pulls off the impossible.
But then again, that’s the pessimistic fan in me. In the last two minutes, Syracuse has a lot of options: If they need shooters, they’ve typically got four guys on the floor that can sink threes, they have three guys that can drive the line and absorb contact, plus a guy that rarely misses his bunnies and tip-ins, and a big 7 foot bastard that can clear the lane.
The only person I don’t really want to see with the ball trying to score, is Scoop. And really that’s only because his FT% is atrocious this year. I want that “and 1.”

Couldn't agree more.
Have said this myself many times. In the unlikely event that Syracuse finds itself NEEDING the last shot, the ebb and flow of the game will dictate who takes it. Could be a drive and dish to Melo. Who knows? Do they need a 2 or a 3? Against man or zone? It’s actually narrow-minded if you think about it. How good of a shot is a guy gonna get off when everyone know he’s taking it? I’m dumb for even putting this much thought into something Seth Davis writes.

It will be Scoop
it will always be Scoop – for better or worse – unless he is on the bench for Dion…

amusing to imagine Seth as a coach.
“Okay guys, 10 seconds left, we’re down by 1. Here’s the play I want you to run: Uh, Johnson, you are the best, so uh, you “get” the ball, okay? Good! Break! ….what? what if they double-team you? Man, I guess you aren’t the go-to guy after all. I knew this would be a problem…"
On the Beejay Anya thing
I assume that Syracuse is pretty much done recruiting for their 2012 team?

Anya's in 2013.
Not real hyped about him though, myself. Think we still have better options at this point.
