Eric Devendorf Waived By Idaho Stampede, The Journey Continues

Photo

All Eric Devendorf did in 11 games for the NBDL's Idaho Stampede is average 10.3 PPG and shoot 40% from three in 20 minutes of action per game. Coming off a holiday break, he was ready to lead the Stampede into the nationally-televised NBA D-League Showcase with a hot-hand, scoring in double figures in six of the past seven games, averaging 13.4 points during that stretch.

Naturally, Devo was waived on Thursday.

The Nuggets assigned guard/forward Jordan Hamilton and guard Julyan Stone to the Idaho Stampede on the 3rd, which meant the team had to make room. No one has said as much but it seems like the two things are connected since Devo was waived on the 5th and they played their first game of the new year on the 6th.

Who knows if Devo was unhappy with Boise, Idaho, which is a pretty understandable concern (my first shot at our new Big East rivals). Of course, it's not the first time Devendorf has been cut by a team despite being a star player.

And so, we wish our Devo the best as he begins the next chapter of his basketball life. Perhaps a return to New Zealand is in the cards? We can all dream.

thats the good and bad thing about the d league becoming the Triple-A of the NBA, great for the pro teams, sucks for the guys like devo trying to make it.

Not all that surprised

Dudes who can average 10 PPG and shoot 40% from 3 are a dime a dozen. What NBA teams want is a guy who can do that and not be a liability on defense. Hence, Devo is cut.
