Syracuse on SUnday: NFL Playoffs - Who Are We Rooting For?
With 17 weeks in the books, the time has come for NFL Playoffs & Wild Card Weekend. With the understanding that a good majority of Syracuse fans are also Buffalo Bills fans than most of you are left wondering, " Who do I want to win the Super Bowl?" So if you're not a Bills fan & you're favorite team isn't still playing here's what Syracuse fans have to consider:
AFC-
Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens currently employ 2 former Orange on their roster, Jameel McClain & Arthur Jones. The Ravens are the #2 seed in the AFC & will welcome the highest remaining seed to Baltimore next Sunday, Jan. 15 @ 1PM on CBS.
Jameel McClain is in his 4th season with the Ravens & put up some of the best #s of any SU player in the NFL this season. He started all 16 games for Baltimore & ended the regular season with 84 tackles (50 solo), 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, 5 pass-deflections, & 2 stuffs. Only Ray Lewis had more tackles for the Ravens.
Arthur Jones is only in his 2nd season with the Ravens but played in 14 games including 1 start. He ends the regular season with 20 tackles (14 solo).
NFC-
Detroit Lions: The Lions are the only NFC employing an Orange on their roster, that being Doug Hogue. Detroit received the 6th & final Wildcard slot & will be facing the New Orleans Saints tonight (Jan. 7th) @ 8PM on NBC.
Doug Hogue is in his Rookie season with the Lions & he managed to see playing time in 13 games recording 6 tackles (4 solo).
[UPDATED: Doug Hogue was Inactive in Detroit's loss @ New Orleans]
New York Giants: The Giants have no Syracuse Alum taking the field, however the man calling the shots Tom Coughlin is a former Orange RB/WR. He apparently set the single season receiving record @ Syracuse in 1967. Coughlin has been the head coach of the Giants since 2004 including their victory in Super Bowl XLII. The Giants play host to the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday @ 1PM on FOX.
Taking out all bias, it looks like Syracuse fans will be rooting for a rematch of Super Bowl XXXV with the Baltimore Ravens facing the New York Giants.
Cuse the Raven, Nevermore?

Not sure I agree "a good majority of Syracuse fans are also Buffalo Bills fans"
but great write-up!
I’ll probably go with Doug Marrone’s former employer, the New Orleans Saints.
Yeah, I'm a tourtured (long ......sigh) Bills fan
but I’ll be rooting for the Lions #1 because I almost always root for the underdog and also because it’s Doug Hogue’s team. Then maybe the Giants #2 because they are the only NY team left.

You didn't know this?
He was one of the ones rumored to be on the short list to take over when Greggers was inevitably fired….until he earned tenure in NY
The 'Cuse is in tha house, oh my God oh my God.
I did not
I am ashamed

I will be rooting for the San Francisco 49ers...
…because I am a San Francisco 49ers fan.
Very happy.
We’re going to die when we play the Saints next week, but it’s all gravy at this point.

Not going to play the Saints
Lions are taking them out, just like the Seahawks did last season.

Even if they do, I don't see the Giants getting past the Packers
Being an Eagles fan this is hard to say but I hope they do somehow.

Coughlin
looks 40 in that picture. Was he ever young, or was he one of those guys that were just born looking old?
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10
