One of those assists – his 11th of the game – was an easy one. Jardine was all alone on the SU break when he turned and fed James Southerland, who punctuated the SU win with a windmill slam. "I just know that he can dunk," Jardine said. "And I can’t."

Syracuse Orange Basketball - Syracuse Survives Providence
The officiating was very poor in this game. Make no mistake; I'm not suggesting Syracuse would have won by 25 with good officiating. It's simply something that needs to be mentioned.

Syracuse basketball notes: Brandon Triche finds 3-point range, scores 16 points | syracuse.com
"I got set and squared to the basket," Triche said, "and I think the guys, especially Scoop (Jardine), once I got it going called a few plays for me and I knocked a few of them down."

I Agree With Coach B

To be fair, Providence was playing smart ball most this game. They were not turning the ball over like past teams and they were hitting their shots, possibly shooting the best they have all season. Sure, we could complain about the touchy fouls but honestly, part of why Providence stayed in the game was because they played a good game. Heck, it took Triche hitting shots from almost half court (ok maybe a slight exaggeration) and Dion and Southerland hitting long balls to give SU the comfortable lead for the first time in the game. This team has got to have better control on offensive drives because there were too many close calls to give the refs a chance to make a call and if Providence can hang like that, I assure you other teams are looking at that game tape to see what they can do to match it with better shooters. I also hope Keita is healthy because the guy can contribute and we could really use him to give Fab some rest while Christmas still learns the game at this level.

While we hit shots, we also got a lot of open shots. While we hit our open shots better than normal, it isnt like we were hitting many unfair 3s.

On D, we allowed too much penetration which made it too easy to foul out our centers, the guards need to be better on that. We seem to get lulled to sleep by a team holding the ball on O for 25 seconds.

That being said, we still won a road game by a lot and won in yet another way which is a good thing. I am not particularly concerned about our defense.

"Have you ever played?" "Yes, I was a goalie"
