Syracuse No. 2 In Both AP, Coaches Polls
The Syracuse Orange went 2-0 this past week, helping them to up their spot in the AP Poll and move up two spots in the Coaches Poll.
In the AP, the Orange jumped one spot to No. 2 behind the Kentucky Wildcats. The Orange received two first-place votes, thanks to Idaho Statesmen writer Nick Jezierny, who stuck to their guns from last week and Everett Daily Herald writer Scott Johnson, who changed his mind this week. Paul Klee, who had SU No. 1 last week, dropped them to No. 2 in his poll. I see how it is, Paul.
Most of the voters had SU at No. 2 while twelve had the Orange at No. 3.
Over in the Coaches Poll, the Orange jumped from No. 4 to No. 2, thanks in large part to Missouri's loss earlier in the week and the eye-opening conclusion that one-loss SU deserved it over three-loss Ohio State. Kentucky is the unanimous No. 1.
Syracuse's RPI is No. 1 in the nation, followed by Duke, Baylor, Michigan State and Kentucky. They have a SOS of 4. They are 1-0 against RPI Top 10 teams, 2-0 against RPI Top 20 teams and 4-0 against RPI Top 30 teams.
Syracuse is No. 3 in the Sagarin Rankings behind Ohio State and Kentucky.
The Orange are No. 1 in the Colley Matrix, ahead of Kentucky, Duke, Baylor and Ohio St.
SU is No. 3 in the Massey Ratings, behind Kentucky and ahead of Ohio State.
In the world of bracketology, SB Nation has SU as a No. 1 seed in the East facing Long Island in the first round while LLunardi has the Orange in the East as the No. 1 overall seed.

Ron Morris has SU at #2
and I ranked him as ‘Bad’ anyway for his past transgressions.

As it stands today SU will not play a ranked team on the road. As such under NCAA regulation 44.Doug.87 states “Any team that doesn’t play a ranked team on the road during the season, regardless of reason, will have to forfeit any NCAA invitation, unless they pass the Digger/Davis/Vitale Eye Test.” At this point all we can do is hope and pray that Rutgers is ranked before we play them on Feb 19th to have a shot at making the tourney.

Just as good as #1
Keep winning, and we’re guaranteed a spot in the BCS Championship
Hate to rain on this parade
But none of those awesome stats can match up against the ‘eye test’ of the last 3 games. If Fab Melo stays out and THAT is the Syracuse team that plays the rest of the year, all those things will mean nothing. The eye test tells me to worry about the current squad.
Elite?
Not so much. Very good, definitely.

How is it a parade?
It’s an update. Grease your gun, soldier, for he does this every time a poll is released. We’ll call it once a week, if that suits you. It’s called…………………. ! Reporting.

Cuse is Ranked #1
…in my own ranking system I just invented (everyone else is doing it) which is based on a secret mathematical formula involving square roots, derivatives, and selections from an omnipotent octopus.
I'd just stick the Mookie method
The Orange are #1 in my mind
You didn't figure in
partial differential equations? Your system is flawed.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

If you need help on Partial Differential Equations
I’d suggest you don’t ask the guy who teaches it at SU. It won’t help.
