Peter king and Shefter reporting Schiano to the Bucs??
How do we feel about this? Is it a vevil you know vs a devil you dont know thing? The guy is a HELL OF A RECRUITER, but could NEVER do anything with the talent. 2006 fell into his lap.
How do we feel about this as SU fans. We can only hope for a GRob hire to send them back to oblivion. But wht if *gulp* they actually get an x's o's guy who knows what he is doing.

In the long run...
I’d be more than happy to deal with a year or two with a good x’s and o’s guy in exchange for a bad recruiter, and especially a change this late in the game. If the Schiano recruiting beast goes away, coupled with our move to the ACC, it opens us up to becoming a bigger player in NJ again.
If he really cared about rutgers, he wouldve waited til after signing day to do this...now all those four stars might think twice about where they decide to go
You keep chanting one more year, I thought college was four years

Really, Schiano?????
That was my first reaction, my second reaction, my third reaction….
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10
Yeah, he is gone...
Good, all I know is that we better be calling those New Jersey Recruits… like yesterday.
"Without Gerry McNamara, we wouldn't have won 10 fucking games this year. OK? Not 10"
screw calling his recruits, lets call his staff...
just like he basically hired Pitts staff after wanny was fired.

Yea, love their OC
throw to Sanu for 6, run up the middle for no gain, wild cat, miss FG?
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
Sounds like our offense
Except we didn’t have a Sanu, so we never gained the first 6.

I asked during halftime of the Cincy game why anyone would think Chip Kelly would make a good NFL head coach
Tampa managed to one up that.
We're talking about Rutgers here
They cannot hope to lure a great X’s and O’s coach or another great recruiter. This program was a disaster for 80 years before Schiano, and despite having some good facilities now, will not be able to bring in a great coach. They will be left skimming the ranks of the MAC and other lower FBS conferences.
In anycase, who cares who their coach is, getting him out of NJ helps open the State for us, which is what is really important.
we need to hire some recruiters from their staff...
we have some openings right? Didnt we can two coaches?

Read an article few months back
About the financial problems in Rutgers athletics. They were in the red and pulling money from other school budgets. State lawmakers were not happy. Schiano was the biggest issue with his salary. I imagine they will reduce their coach offering and therefore won’t get anything more than the hottest offensive coordinator in the Sun Belt or FCS.

It still amazes me
that HCDM makes less than half of the average BCS coaches salary. Thats like trying to find an engineer, but only offering 30K per year. And then expecting them to do amazing design work.
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
DONE DEAL Per Twitter...
Marrone needs to go get their “Ray Rice”

Bwahahahahahaha
Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel
Will the Big East sue Greg Schiano for trying to get out of the league also?
Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
That's hilarious
Oh Marinatto, you’re such a train wreck.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Too funny
Especially considering they are the last original football member when SU/Pitt/W Vir leave. Not a good sign. Another bad sign? Marrone the longest tenured coach at 3 years and he is leaving the conference.

Doug is gonna be the elder statesman of the Big East
if its only for a year or two more, but wow, wow, wow Schiano?
recruiting-wise we may have just won our first huge battle for NJ recruits since P was at the helm
Since the early 1990's I have not been able to get Mike Hopkins' bloody face out of my brain. I don't remember what game it was but I'll never forget that as my first memory of SU basketball. Mike Hopkins, bloody face, bloody nose, all for the love of Syracuse.
Wow
time to pick off some solid recruits! Lets hope Coach P cant swing them UConns way with his sweet dance moves

May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.

That's can't be Coach P
Where is the umbilical cord to George DeLeone?

hahaha
When I first saw this gif I thought “Oh my, that looks just like Coach P!”
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
Now it's payback time
Our last recruiting week has just got better, Go SU.
Recruits ...
Here is a list of Rutgers recruits who also had interest/an offer from SU (via Scout)
JJ Denman – OT – 4 stars
Derrick Nelson – OG – 2 stars
Steve Longa – OLB – 3 stars
Julian Pinnix-Odrick (DT; 3 stars) and Delon Stephenson (WR; 3 stars) are listed under “Schools of Interest” but do not have an offer from SU

ROFL
You know how they say some moves benefit both teams. Yeah, this is far in the opposite direction as possible.
Tampa, why man? Why?
Go Orange(men)!
Fantastic news!

Now, let’s go steal some of those recruits please!
Clear eyes, full bologna sandwiches!
Question.
Not to kick Rutgers while they’re down, but why does this fan base have so much faith in their AD? I see a bunch of posters on their message boards saying that Pernetti will guide Rutgers to a better place. Are they outliers? They said this after the BE was on the verge of collapse and again today. He failed to get an ESPN contract signed. Failed to fill the stadium seats. Has effectively bankrupted the program, if Dept of Ed reports are to be believed. What has he done that has helped this program?
I would ask a Rutgers fan myself, but I’ve never met one, so I have to ask the NIIAAM community.
They think he did a great job....
firing the old bball coach and hiring Mike Rice and their Soccer coach. They are also delusional in thinking is color commenting days from past somehow have them with an inside ticket to the next round of conf expansion.
by OrangeinJersey on Jan 26, 2012 1:27 PM EST up reply actions
Thanks for the response!
I guess, we’ll see if Pernetti has some inside track w/r to the next round of recruiting. From the (very) early reports it appears that he doesn’t as the Big XII is thinking about adding L’Ville or Cinci. No mention of Rutgers. The only way Rutgers goes to the ACC or B1G is if UND comes along. There’s zero chance ND is going anywhere, anytime soon. So, they’re stuck in the CUSA the Big East and will slide further into football obscurity.
Well, I don't think Big 12 expansion plans would ever include Rutgers
I don’t think that’s necessarily his fault. The geography doesn’t fit at all. But that he never stuck his head into the ACC expansion thinking a Big Ten invite was coming is downright foolish. Everyone there is so sure that the Big Ten or ACC invite is coming. It just isn’t. Even if Notre Dame comes along to the ACC, UConn is getting that invite first (how much would it hurt Rutgers if the only other Atlantic coast states without an ACC school were Delaware, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine? I say that as a proud NJ native, too). I just can’t understand where the delusion is coming from. I think Pernetti has everyone there under some kind of spell, because they believe EVERYTHING.
Goodbye Rutgers....
Hopefully Schiano takes Cignetti with him. That would be cool.
by OrangeinJersey on Jan 26, 2012 3:09 PM EST up reply actions
they also bragged about Pernetti aligning with WVU's Luck and Pitt's Pederson in rejecting ESPN's offer...
Which was effectively the beggining of the end for the Big East as Pitt left for the ACC and WVU left for the Bix XII.
Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy. I'm the magical man from. Happyland in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Laaane! Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic.
