Introducing Cuse Alumni in the City
Hello New York! (And the surrounding Tri-State area). Just a quick announcement that on Thursdays here on Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician, we're going to be doing an alumni-focused column for those in the area.
It makes sense, right? Afterall, the Orange are going to an awful lot of trouble to make sure everyone knows that they're "New York's College Team" and unscientifically I'm going to go ahead and say that there are more Syracuse Alumni in New York City than anywhere else on Earth (feel free to challenge me on that completely made up assessment).
So what are we going to cover? What's going on in and around New York City with the various alumni clubs, game watching activities, trips, events, networking , Lubin House activities, Big Apple Orange events, etc.
I want to know what orange things you're up to and that goes for you recent grads right on up to anyone who's been out for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30+ years. How are you keeping in touch with the university after you graduate, and beyond? What would you like to do more of? I want to hear what you thought about an event that you attended. Seriously - nothing is too small to ruminate on. If you're a part of any of the Syracuse organizations in town, let me know your event schedule and how alumni in the area can take part. I'll feature some each week.
Just like this one:
Syracuse University's home away from home on the upper east side of Manhattan is the Lubin House, and they were kind enough to share with me a few of their upcoming events. One of which you may be particularly interested in is a panel discussion happening on February 16th called "The Business of Sports -- Who's Up and Who's Down in 2012" featuring Syracuse Alumni from ESPN, Turner Broadcasting Company, and IMG Sports and Entertainment. If you're interested in attending find out more and register here.
That all being said - get me your info at jmpedde@gmail.com.
And have you bought your tickets for when Syracuse comes to the garden to take on St. John's on February 4th?

Fantastic idea
As an NYC-based alum, I’m really looking forward to these posts. Thanks in advance!
Id have to guess...
that the most Syracuse alumni probably live in Syracuse…
But there are probably more Syracuse Alumni at a Syracuse graduation ceremony.
We have people from the Syracuse area that come here
In all my time of meeting SU alums, I’ve never met any that lived in CNY after college. I have family that lives in the area, and between them and other people who live around here that I know, none went to SU. Obviously not the best gauge, but still.
I’m pretty sure NYC has the highest number of alumni by far, probably with DC and Boston next.
I know people who lived in CNY after college, but not an overwhelming amount.
Most of that comes from people I graduated with. My dad went to LeMoyne so I know a ton of LeMoyne grads in Syracuse (biased sample). I’m betting if he was a Syracuse grad, I’d know a lot more Syracuse grads in the area.
'Cuse 2010, Michigan 2012
A heads up
For people coming into the city just for the saint johns v. Cuse game; melo and the Knicks play that night; hit up stubhub and make it a doubleheader.
