Fab being cryptic?

He just tweeted:

Who doesn't like a movie with happy ending?!

So does that mean he's coming back (a happy ending for us SU fans?) or what? Or is Fab being the Troll King and getting the fanbase fired up?

Would be nice to get something finalized either way, good or bad. Is it just me or does stupid stuff happen to this program every year?

I can kinda translate that retweet from 1/21

Syracuse lost its first game of the year only the first time Melo didn’t play? <guessing here) Does that seem like a coincidence?

The fact that Fab is tweeting at all I see as a sign that resolution, one way or the other, is on the way. either way, it will be a happy ending for Fab. I either he gets to play or he gets paid.

Saw the tweet as well

The fact that his twitter has been silent since last saturday, and now we get what seems like an optimistic tweet from him. I’m more hopeful than I was.

What I have heard most recently through the rumor mill

is that Fab will not be available for the WVU game Saturday but will be back for St. Johns the following Saturday.

How is that even possible?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I just don’t know why. If it’s a clerical error, it should be fixed by now. If it’s a disputed grade, and it’s still being disputed, then there’s no guarantee he will get it reversed. If it’s unfinished work, get the work done YESTERDAY.

I can imagine one way they could know that he'd be back after WVU

If whatever academic issue was actually something that would result in punishment rather than ineligibility, they could have decided to punish him by suspending him for 3 games with ND and Cinci counting as 2 of those 3.

However, I can’t necessarily think of an academic issue that would result in him getting suspended from a limited number of basketball games.

Only if he's a film minor

and completeing some course work so that he can get back on the court.

I also had this thought!

We’re clearly on the same wavelength.

This so great

I’m just laughing at all this right now. I want Fab to come back as much as anyone and have been checking every hour for an update for two days, but I love how we all dissect every little thing. I’ll add in another tidbit

John Kekis of the AP is reporting Fab is practicing today. Are you allowed to practice on an academic suspension? Who knows!!!

by krackatoan on Jan 25, 2012 2:25 PM EST reply actions

He practiced all last week

So I assume he can still practice. Can mean he is cleared or the situation is not resolved. He can’t play for fear of forfeiting games. But, if he is practicing, he hasn’t been dismissed. So, at least no news isn’t bad news yet.

by orangetundra on Jan 25, 2012 2:41 PM EST up reply actions

According to Boeheim

He’s is cleared to practice and hasn’t stopped at all.

Oh

then why are writers reporting this like it’s some new development? I hate everything.

Syracuse.com

Citing sources that Fab will be out “for a while” whatever that means. Not looking good, but hope still there. If he is gone too long, one of two things happen: 1) they try to hold on and really don’t play great or 2) they learn to win without him making it tough to fit him back in the lineup.

AS promising as their last message was

I am far less optimistic about this one.

Careful Melo, TEH RAWK WANTS YOUR JOB In fact, Christmas put up almost the same numbers as fab usually does in a game. He keeps it up, Im a lot less worried. BMK needs 30 lbs – he just gets pushed around out there.

by Pinker on Jan 25, 2012 4:56 PM EST reply actions

Sheesh

our 6’9 forward (Rak 222lbs) weighs 10 more lbs than our 6’11 center (BMK, 213lbs). No wonder he’s able to defend bigs better.

by Pinker on Jan 25, 2012 4:58 PM EST up reply actions

Keita SHould play the 4 next year.

Then man the High Post on Offense. Unless he puts on 50 lbs of Muscle, he just doesn’t fit down low.

by fatmofo55 on Jan 25, 2012 5:08 PM EST up reply actions

Not a bad idea

but he’s got to become a Melo-level passer if that’s going to be a viable strategy and he’s got some work to do for that to happen.

It's the most bullshit thing I've seen in thirty years.

by Girardi Party on Jan 27, 2012 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Optimisitc indeed

Especially since Yancy Gates is a bit more talented than Baby Harangody. Rak handled the pressure pretty damn well for a freshie going up against a senior.

agreed

on that. Im just trying to steel myself

for you know, possible outcomes.

BMK doesn't need weight

He needs hands.

^ This

It’s like every fucking time. Bro, you’re 6’10" and agile. You’re better than that.

by Ceebs on Jan 26, 2012 11:46 AM EST up reply actions

The weight vs. strength thing is debatable

But being able to hold on to the rock isn’t. He held on to it better last season when he had it wrapped all year.

I will say this, though. I was as excited about BMK as anyone last season. But, looking back, I think that whatever “greatness” (and I use the term very loosely) we saw was simply in comparison to a very lackluster Fabricio de Melo. Add that to the fact that we could always pass off a fumbled pass or rebound on, “Well, he’s injured” and the same performace that was great last season has us scratching our heads now.

I know it's in poor taste

But sometimes I wonder if Keita’s hands were cut off in some ethnic cleansing, and hes working with transplants that are faulty.

by fatmofo55 on Jan 26, 2012 11:03 AM EST up reply actions

It's Starting to sound

Like it is completely up to Fab to make up the work he didn’t do.

This is my new favorite past time

never had any interest in twitter – now i am glued to it to see what the big bastard is up to. Defensively he leaves a huge hole (i believe a seven foot hole to be exact) but we are only missing about 7pts on O. Still, like a slo-mo train wreck, i can’t look away. I miss the big bastard. He’s looks like a giant, poorly made muppet. But he’s OUR poorly made muppet – and dammit, i don’t care what you say – its endearing.

Rumor #167: Fab’s “double fist pump” after his fourth flop/charge a few games back is under review by his Current Affairs professor. According to Dr. Tweed it “just felt a bit to 90’s – ish”
