Scranton has a pro bball team? Who knew?
Apparently there is a professional basketball team in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and they just signed former Orangeman Matt Gorman to the roster. Of course Scranton was annexed by the Otto-Man Empire many moons ago, so he should have plenty of support down there.

Boeheim played for the Scranton Miners
and I believe that GMac was drafted by Scranton but chose instead to play in Europe…

True on Jim B
But I’m pretty sure G-Mac was drafted by the Albany Patroons, but went to Europe instead. I know for sure he was drafted by Albany, because I remember getting all kinds of excited at the prospect of possibly being able to see him play. But, if they’re in different leagues, that doesn’t rule out him getting drafted by Scranton too.

Yup
CBA team. I did the Wikipedia due diligence on it. He was drafted by the Northeast Pennsylvania Breakers of the USBL and by the Patroons in the CBA. Given that Scranton isn’t exactly in NE PA, I doubt the Breakers are affiliated with that city at all.
I didn’t know that G-Mac had so many NBDL and Summer League stints. I knew he was in the D-League briefly, but didn’t realize he got so many invites to camps and whatnot. I always thought that there had to be a place for a guy like Gerry in the League. Guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

Gotcha, I though they we're still around when you said that. But not anymore:
Jim Coyne, general manager of the Armory and commissioner of the Continental Basketball Association, told the newspaper that if the team doesn’t sell 600 season tickets, by the end of July, the team will either fold or move. The Pats currently have about 50 season ticket holders.

Clearly you are not familiar with Pennsylvania geography.

I am not
My bad. When I envsion Scranton, I see it coming south on 81, so in my mind, that puts it more in north central PA. But I’m clearly wrong. When I heard NE PA, I thought Philly. I’m an idiot. I apologize.

How can you envision Scranton
And not envision GMac and Dunder Mifflin?!
no worries
Scranton is NE, Philly is SE, Pittsburgh is SW, and everything in between is Alabama.

I always heard it called "Pennsyltucky"

Anything but the “Fighting G-mac’s” is just incorrect and will not do.
