#AddThemtotheList
Watching "Around the Horn" and Platchke, Paige and Collishaw all hitched a ride on the, "Syracuse never goes anywhere or plays anybody" hate train. They've been Orange listed. Adande, though, avoided that fate by astutely observing that all the Orange have done is WIN EVERY SINGLE GAME THEY'VE PLAYED. He's safe for now.

Who have we played?
The two best conference wins are Marquette and Seton Hall, and both were at home. Neither figures to be a top 4 seed in the Big Dance.
We have also played Nova, Pitt, DePaul, and Providence twice. EXCLUDING Syracuse games, those teams have a conference record of 3-15 (3-20 with the losses to us). That’s the bottom 4 teams.
Our best OOC is Stanford at 15-3. Florida has more talent, but is only 14-4, including losses to Rutgers and Tennessee. Virginia Tech is 0-3 in the ACC, including a loss to sub .500 BC. NC State is 13-5 and unranked. They also lost to a terrible Georgia Tech team. Their other losses are respectable, but no great wins. Marshall is 14-4, but also lost to Ohio, Belmont, and Akron. At least they beat Cincy. Tulane is now down to 12-5, having lost to Rice and Wofford.
There is no doubt that we WILL play a lot of good teams. But our schedule is very backloaded this year. There is some truth in what they are saying.
Dictated, but not read.

Can't argue with EZ
But only because he’s likely watched more than a highlight package of the Orange. The same can’t be said for those three.

No mention of Colgate?
But in all seriousness Florida was supposed to be good when we played them in (albeit small) defense of our otherwise weak schedule thus far. We’ll see how good this team really is soon with the schedule getting much tougher from here on out. Only two of our remaining games are against teams outside of KenPom’s top 100 (St. Johns & USF) and ND and Rutgers being borderline top 100.

USF
Has been pretty damn good lately, too. Rutgers especially will come out fired up against us.
Exactly my point
The schedule from here on out won’t be easy

If you discount Syracuse because of not beating ranked teams on the road
Then you discredit all the top teams. What’s Kentucky’s best road win? Tennessee? What about Kansas? Look out, they beat Oklahoma on the road. Everyone knows Ohio St. is one of the best teams in the country, right? Their best road win is Iowa. Duke beat an elite Clemson team and UNC can brag about their UNC Asheville win.
Not what I'm saying
I’m not discounting us at all I’m just saying that lots of people are complaining about pundits using misleading stats and then a lot of us do the same thing here. Kentucky happens to have a very good road win on its resume and that’s all I was saying.

There's some truth in what they're saying about the schedule
but not about “Syracuse never goes anywhere”… and I don’t exactly understand how playing a slightly inferior schedule disqualifies you from being number 1 in the country anyway. There are 350 teams in D1. Ideally, we’d play a round-robin and everyone has the same schedule and yay!!! But that can’t happen. Shouldn’t the top ranked team be whoever is playing the best, right now? I guess if you think it’s “who has the best resume”, then no, we MAY not deserve to be #1, but even then, all of this is just splitting hairs.

wasn't adonde
was michael smith. but ya, i was dissappointed they all made the home/never leave ny route.
another fun note
was checking standings.. of the “BCS” schools, only one team(Baylor) has more road wins(a lot of teams have 4 with us)
and that great UK team… 3 total true road games..2-1.
What's our record on the road?

But one of those road wins
Was at Kansas and by all accounts Allen Fieldhouse is one of the hardest places to play.

The hardest place to play
is the home of the best team. That would made it the Carrier Dome.

Stuff like that is the reason that the pundits saying this crap
over and over pisses me off. Because it DOES matter. (This touches on some of what Sean wrote today.) I don’t PERSONALLY give a crap what Doug Gottlieb or something says about Syracuse. I, myself, don’t feel disrespected – as an alum, Syracuse resident, season ticket holder, whatever.
But perception becomes reality. Like a few folks have mentioned, these guys are not college hoops writers and have probably watched a cumulative total of an hour of Syracuse basketball this season, MAYBE. Their knowledge of college hoops becomes whatever the company line has been. They keep spouting this and it just becomes part of this nasty, self-feeding groupthink.
I’m not stupid enough to think that there’s some anti-Syracuse conspiracy at ESPN but it is disappointing that the one season we’ve all been dreaming of, where we’ve climbed the mountain and straight up dominated, the season narrative has become “Syracuse is an unworthy top-ranked team.”
Only one way to shut them up.
