Syracuse Daily Links - Raise Your Loud Towel
Former Syracuse athletes Lawrence Moten and Dave Jacobs want to bring university and community together | syracuse.com
It’s an Orange version of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ famous Terrible Towel. The towel is emblazoned with Moten’s initials and the number 2334, which represents his school-record career scoring total. The towel, initially in orange and eventually in white and blue as well, will be sold at Jacobs’ Shirt World on Marshall Street and also at the Dome. Jacobs said a portion of the proceeds from the towel will go to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, the Say Yes to Education program and SU’s Burton Blatt Institute, which advocates on behalf of people with disabilities.
Cuse Now Drawing Attention For All The Right Reasons | ZagsBlog.com
"I haven’t watched Syracuse yet, for obvious reasons," West Virginia coach Bob Huggins cracked on Thursday’s Big East conference call. "I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is."
Watertown Daily Times | Melo’s improved play has SU smiling
This season, Melo’s on-court time has increased to the point where he now ranks third on the team in average minutes played (22.5 per game). He logged 32 minutes against Stanford, and has played at least 25 minutes four other times.
Orange Watch: The coach in-waiting is a patient man | The Juice Online
It’s been an amazing journey for me. It’s like you tell your team, the ups and downs, the losses and wins, you just try to work on the process and you just try to become the best I can become. If the opportunity exists or something happens, I could never see myself leaving, but it’s some of those things you just never know.
NBA Draft Toolbox: Syracuse System Puts A Shine On, Obscures Pro Prospects - SBNation.com
Jim Boeheim's 2-3 zone obscures much of what Syracuse's NBA-level prospects can do. Despite that, Fab Melo and Kris Joseph have drawn NBA attention, and a few youngsters will do the same next season.
Syracuse Orange Basketball - Tyler Ennis Video Interview
One of NationOfOrange.com's sister sites, PointGuardU.com, was at St. Benedict's in New Jersey tonight to watch 2013 point guard Tyler Ennis. Check out this video interview from after the game.
Syracuse Basketball 2012: Scoop Jardine Is A Championship Caliber Point Guard - SB Nation New York
Does Jardine make some head-scratching plays at times? Of course, but I've done a lot less head-pounding-against-a-wall with Jardine then I did with former point guard Eric Devendorf -- a player some fans say was better.
Your Team Sucks: Big East Power Rankings Week One - Card Chronicle
The Orange are playing so far above the rest of the league right now that it's ridiculous. The starts are great. The bench has been fantastic. Dion Waiters is the 6th man of the year and right now probably the Big East player of the year. They've been up at least 16 in every Big East game this season. That's domination.
Gary Parrish talks about Syracuse and compares the team to Kentucky with Tim Brando.

Take your Loud Towel and...
Does this story piss off anyone besides me? You’re not trying to “bring university and community together.” You’re selling something to make money. The fact that the Sub-Standard is giving you free advertising doesn’t change that.
Perhaps they should rename it
the “Technical Towel” in honor of Moten.
Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy. I'm the magical man from. Happyland in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Laaane! Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic.
Depends
on how much of the money is being donated.

It seems awkward
to try to sell Towels when they give them away at SU games all the time.
'Cuse 2010, Michigan 2012
I never get any towels!

Hold up
The Shirt World dude was an All America kicker? How did I not know this? Am I the only one?
For the record, I’ve always preferred Shirt World to Manny’s. It’s not even close in my opinion. Better selection. Better prices.

There is only one Melo.....
….It’s one thing when the national media, broadcasters call Fab “Melo”, but I can’t stand that a local media outlet calls him Melo….It’s Fab, dammit…..
ugghhh,,,,,
Melo actually is Fab’s last name, whereas “’Melo” was just a nickname for “Carmelo”.
Does that mean Syracuse should not recruit anyone with the last name of “Scoop” because the national media may actually refer to him by his real last name?

It doesn't have to bother you, too....
Carmelo was a once in a lifetime talent who brought me more joy than any other single player from any Syracuse sport in my 40 years on this earth. Scoop’s name is not sacred, and neither is Fab’s, Even if they win the title this year, it still won’t be as special as the first. Therefore, recruit as many Fabs and Scoops as we want to and call them whatever you’d like to…But there is, and will always be, only one Melo…..
And if you want to get all technical on me, isn’t his last name de Melo? :)
Tim Brando only caters to the SEC schools, I am shocked he mentioned Syracuse at all
must be short on story lines since SEC football is done playing…not like they have much to talk about when it comes to SEC basketball…
You keep chanting one more year, I thought college was four years

That there is some faint praise. Am I touchy about faint praise? Yes. Yes I am.
Shirt World Sucks
The ultimate bait-and-switch job.
They rope you in with all of their “specials” and then the guy marks up the price at the register. Charges tax on clothing even though he’s not allowed to… or claims the increase in price is “tax.” Doesn’t give receipts. Most things don’t have a price on them to begin with. That place is much worse than Manny’s and even the SU Bookstore.
Yeah I walked in there for a hoody because he sang about deals on hoodies
Gray hoodies…ugliest shit you can buy, marked $80.
I bought a sweet SU lighter, but it was 6 damn dollars.

I don't know why anyone
would choose that place over Manny’s. It just looks so meh.

I completely disagree
Much better selection of shirts, nicer people working there, and the prices are better. I almost always choose them over Manny’s.

They put the faded sweatshirts outside and offer the same "special" discount for 10 years
So their marketing is terrible, and it makes you think their stuff sucks.
But trust me, it does not.

That guy
got really snippy with me once when I was, like, 12. I really wanted a Cuse rugby shirt, like those worn by Sour Sitrus Society. I looked at the pricetag and the thing was like $70. I innocently commented to my aunt how that seemed awfully steep for a rugby shirt and he pretty aggressively told me that that was the best price in town and that I wouldn’t find a better price. He seemed pretty butthurt about it.
I don’t remember the difference but the same thing was definitely a few dollars cheaper at Manny’s. I haven’t been back since.
Also, I got an actual Sitrus shirt during my time at SU, so wish fulfilled I guess.
It's the most bullshit thing I've seen in thirty years.
