This Day in 'Cuse History - January 13th
What's the best way to celebrate Friday the 13th? It's hopping in the 'Cuse Time Machine and traveling back to January 13th 2003! Obviously, we need to start the time traveling during the greatest season in 'Cuse hoops history.
On this day freshmen sensations Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara helped unranked Syracuse upset #11 Missouri 76-69 in front of 18,756 fans in the Dome. Sophomore Hakim Warrick finished with a team high 20 points to go with 10 rebounds. Craig Forth, aka Stat Sheet Stuffer, tallied 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal. Forth even added one of his patented monster dunks. Kueth Duany added 10 points while Josh Pace and Jeremy McNeil came off the bench to score a total of 5 points grab 6 boards combined.
The 'Cuse improved their record to 11-1 with this victory. They would continue to climb the polls on their way to the magical finish in New Orleans.
And on this night Billy Edelin was nowhere to be found....

scary to see
that team was unranked at this point in the season…
A wonderful night
I forgot Mizzou was #11 at that time.
The fact that we were unranked then shows just how valuable our current ranking is now.
I was at that game
Is that the game when Gerry stole the ball and fired up a 17 foot floater right as the halftime buzzer went off? Great play! Cant remember if that was vs Mizzou or Ga-Tech. I was at both those games

I feel like it was this Mizzou game
or the ND one. Definitely during the semester as I remember being in the student section. GTech was in December sometime.

Don't think it was the Notre Dame game
I was there with my moms of all people, and I’m pretty sure that would stick in my mind.
If you're going to be stupid, you're going to have to be tough
The ND game...
…was the one where Gerry hit a three with just a few seconds left for the win. From http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=230460183:
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Gerry McNamara knows how to send a crowd home happy.
Playing in front of 32,116 people at the Carrier Dome, including about 2,000 from his hometown of Scranton, Pa., the freshman guard hit a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left to give Syracuse (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 17 AP) an 82-80 victory over Notre Dame (No. 9, No. 10) on Saturday.

I remember that was our first step on the way to the Big XII title that year
They were the 5th best team in the XII that year. We went on to beat the other 4 top teams in the tourney (OSU, OU, Texas, and KU).
Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a Q-tip
Only 12th game of the season
Already up to 18 this year. Interesting that there are some many more games played already this year – and that a big non-conf game was played in January.

I remember!
That was a great game.
It would be cool if we can work in similar NC games with G’Town, Villanova, UConn and St John’s once we are in the ACC. Kind of a rotation where we play and every-other-year, home-and-home two team set, say:
Year 1:
- @ G’town
- vs St John’s
Year 2:
- @ Villanova
- vs UConn
etc

Oops, this was supposed to be under...

That was the first game where we got a peek at the new Jumbotron
It was being held up by a crane.
We rushed the court.
Awesome.
The 'Cuse is in tha house, oh my God oh my God.
