Syracuse Daily Links - Dion Waiters Is Syracuse's Go-To Player
There's no doubt about Syracuse's go-to player | The Juice Online
Boeheim has called Waiters "the most unguardable player" he’s ever had in the backcourt. This is coming from someone who coached Pearl Washington and Sherman Douglas, among others, and who is not apt to heap praise where it’s unwarranted. Waiters is undoubtedly a special player.

2014 shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead is one of the top players in his class. Nation of Orange spoke to him recently to get an update on his season and recruiting. He told us his team is 12-1, and has been playing well. Whitehead is averaging about 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. He has been hearing from Syracuse, and likes Syracuse. They are definitely in the running. Jim Boeheim has sent several letters to Isaiah, and Syracuse has offered him.

Melo may never be a dominant center on offense, but he’s a surly, sharp-elbowed goon with an angular haircut and a penchant for bullying smaller players. Yep, he’s Rick Mahorn. We should embrace it, as he has.

Wait!
If Dion is now officially our go-to player, and MCW didn’t play vs Marquette, are we closer to being as good as Kentucky now?
Lacks knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief

why should "go-to" = "starter"???
here’s a thought regarding the whole go-to player nonsense.
Dion comes off the bench to provide a spark on both sides of the ball. He doesn’t start. In fact, in recent games he’s been on the court at the end of the game.
I’m reminded of coaches in hockey who play the best players for a given situation, or a baseball manager who throws a “defensive replacement” in to the OF or at C in the later innings.
Dion may not be a starter, but it certainly seems that he’s the go-to clutch guy (along with KJ and on some nights Triche) that Jim B. wants on the floor.
So what if he’s not a starter?
I am so sick of this "go to guy" talk.
I think it is pretty clear that if the game is on the line and we need a jumper ( say a three ball) KrisJo is going to be option number one and there is going to be some play called to hopefully get him the ball. Now if we need one to tie and two to win, I think the option expand and you very well so something called for Dion, trying to get him to the rim to finish or get fouled.
In short we have “go to guys”.
I think Higgins licked the ball too
just the tip, just to see how it feels
