Latest expansion news

The SEC gave their commish the power to negotiate with West Virginia and Missouri to become the 14th member.  This is the worst case scenario.  Losing WV would (a) remove the best team from the Big East (in football obviously); and (b) leave the ACC unscathed--meaning Syracuse would be stuck in a weaker Big East.  Also, the defection of WVU could cause schools like Louisville to consider whether a Big 12 with Texas and Oklahoma is actually stronger.  Apparently, the Pac 12 is only lukewarm on expansion right now.

Again... in this expansion dynamic, you either eat or be eaten.  I like the Big East, but losing another regional school to an elite conference is the writing on the wall that it is over.  Just a matter of when and where we end up.  And hopefully that is in a good place.

The best case scenario is A&M and Missouri to the SEC.  Keep your fingers crossed...
