I just thought of this and it's not something that has come up in the discussion as far as I can tell.  Weren't the officials from the MAC?  I thought that visiting teams out of conference brought their own officials?  If so, then it's not the Big East that dorked this up.  I'm not sure about the review crew.  But at the very least, it seems to me that MAC officials blew the call and that the Big East had little to do with this (although it's possible that the review crew was Big East, but that doesn't make much sense either).
