Okay, Orange Nation...sit back, have yourselves a well-earned breather from the 24-7 conference realignment insanity, gather the young impressionable ones 'round the YouTube, and treat yourself to a lesson in Cuse hoops history with a few highlights from one of the finest scorers ever to squeak his sneaks across the Dome hardwood.
Old-timers will remember Syracuse swingman Rafael Addison's iconic, textbook jumpshot form, head leaned way back coupled with picture-perfect follow-through, resulting more often than not in the sweet sound of nylon snapping. Addison's senior year chase for Dave Bing's all-time Orange scoring record may have fallen seven points short, but he still played in every game of his four-year Cuse stint, was a three-year starter from his sophomore season on, and helped the Orange to four consecutive invites to The Big Dance (including a Sweet Sixteen appearance as a sprightly soph); today, he remains ranked as the #10 scorer in Syracuse hoops history.
Raf hailed from Jersey City, NJ, so it's only fitting that the highlights soundtrack, a classic hip hop track from 1990 called 'Flavor Unit Assassination Squad!,' is provided by The 45 King with The Flavor Unit featuring Chill Rob G and Apache (Jersey City, NJ) and Queen Latifah and Lakim Shabazz (Newark, NJ).
