Well, it can't all be sunshine, roses and decent exposure.

Ashton Broyld will not play football for the Syracuse Orange in 2011. The official reason? Well...none given, obviously, though Nolan says it sounds "a lot like academic issues."

That said, I can't imagine BroyldLewdExposureGate didn't play into it. Marrone has doled out harsh consequences for much less.

Joining Broyld on the sidelines this season will be fellow incoming frosh Tyree Smallwood. Again, no official reason, as is Marrone's wont to do, though "the coach would say only that both "have work to do" before they can come to SU."

We know a lot about Broyld, who was expected to join the fight for Next Great Syracuse Quarterback sooner than later. Now, it's most certainly later.

As for Smallwood, it's a shame. He sounds like a great kid and he chose SU over schools like Michigan, Maryland and Cincy.

The good news, I suppose, is that they'll both redshirt and we'll still get four years of production out of them, assuming they stay with the program (sounds like both are off to prep school for now).
