George Washington Attempts To Chop Orange Tree, Visits Carrier Dome Dec. 10
What? It was either a wooden teeth reference or a take on the cherry tree thing. Shut up.
George Washington University, named after some guy, will visit the Carrier Dome December 10th to take on Your Syracuse Basketball Orange. Even though we haven't played the Colonials since 1994, there's already quite a few ties that bind.
George Washington finished its 2010-11 season 17-14 overall and 10-6 in the Atlantic 10. The Colonials will be led by new coach Mike Lonergan, who was named to replace Karl Hobbs. Lonergan has 18 years of experience and an overall record of 377-156 in head coaching jobs at Catholic and Vermont. Lonergan’s new staff includes assistant coach Maurice Joseph, the brother of Syracuse’s Kris Joseph.
The Orange are also looking for some very-belated revenge. George Washington beat Syracuse 111-104 in overtime when the two tangled in the Preseason NIT back in '94. That said, SU is 7-1 all-time against GWU, so we probably shouldn't feel too threatened.

Dec. 10 will be a confusing day
Grew up in Liverpool. Had Cuse season tickets growing up.
Graduated from GW. Have had season tickets off-and-on since then. Was a sophomore there during the 1994 game, which was an epic (and the last regular season game at Manley).
Conflicting loyalties had me curled into the fetal position by the end. Expecting a repeat occurrence, though there’s little chance this one should be as close. GW has some players, but none on Cuse’s level. Colonials’ 1994 team was better than their 2011 team.
I'll make it easy for you...
ALWAYS root for Syracuse.

What, Sean, you weren't feeling the
“Death by bloodletting’ spoof angle?
