Syracuse Lacrosse Midfield Just Got A Whole Lot Bigger

Stay connected for news and updates

Syracuse lacrosse is losing a lot of talent this year. Lucky for us, we're Syracuse lacrosse. We don't rebuild, we just reload.

Luke Cometti (6-foot-3, 205 pounds), a former high school All-American at West Genesee, is in the process of transferring from Albany to SU, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining. He will be joined by James Cathers (6-3, 220), who committed to SU out of Corcoran High last year but failed to qualify academically. He now has.

Both players come with fantastic situations. Cornetti didn't plays last year and retained two years of eligibility while Cathers will have four years of eligibility at Syracuse after going to prep school instead of junior college.

Cometti was a three-time All-CNY midfielder at West Genesee and was named 2008 All-CNY Player of the Year. Meanwhile, Cathers is a two-time high school lacrosse All-American. He was also a member of the infamous 2010 Iroquois National Team that got caught up in that passport kerfuffle.

According to Dave Rahme, Cometti and Cathers will likely compete for playing time immediately. See that? Problem solved...

YNN has some video of Cometti here while Inside Lacrosse has more on his story.
