Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man — #87 Kyle Foster

via www.annarbor.com

In the eleventh edition of the "Get To Know Your Orange Man" series, we take a look at one of the lesser-known members of the incoming freshman class, receiver Kyle Foster.

Player: Kyle Foster

Number: #87

Year: True Freshman

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 205

Hometown: Ann Arbor, MI

High School: Pioneer HS

2010 Stats: None (obviously)

2011 Projections: I wouldn't expect too much from Foster in his first year at SU, because of how much depth there is at receiver.  He may be a candidate to sit out his first year, unless he's needed on special teams.

How'd He Get Here: Let's hear about from Foster himself- "Syracuse was for me because it was a full-ride and I kind of want to get away from home, and from the very beginning coach (Tyrone) Wheatley was very honest, always telling me the truth." Foster also held offers from Memphis and Western Michigan.

What Did Scout/Rivals Say: Both have him listed as a 2-star recruit.

Money Quote: After the scholarship was finally offered, Foster didn't really care what happened to open up the spot, and didn't ask the staff...he just happy to be Orange.

"It doesn't matter to me."

Star-divide

Links of Wonder: Story from Foster's hometown of Ann Arbor about his commitment to Syracuse, and his relationship with Wheatley.

What Does Marrone Think?: Not much, apparently.  I can't find any quotes on Foster from Marrone, and don't remember what/if he mentioned him at the season ticket holder event in Manley back a few months ago (I didn't write anything about it), but for what it's worth, Foster definitely fits the mold of the bigger, athletic receivers that we seem to be targeting in our recruiting (see: Adrian Flemming, Keenan Hale, Jarrod West, and Dyshawn Davis before he flipped to defense).

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: According to Foster, he caught around 60 passes for over 800 yards and 15 TDs during his senior year, and racked up 70 tackles as a linebacker.  He also boasts a 4.5 40, a 38" vertical jump, and was also a track & field star in high school.

Let Us Get a Good Look at You:  You can watch Foster do his thang in high school below.

Please do.

Last year it seemed like a domino affect. Once we lost one person, it just happened over and over.

I've got to say...

Outside of Cam Lynch and Broyld, Foster might be the most impactful freshman in his 4 (most likely 5) years on campus.

NOT TEN!!

Dan

Wasn’t there something about the staff liking him to grow into the TE spot mentioned when he committed?
