Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man — #89 Thomas Trendowski

via media.syracuse.com

Player: Thomas "Tom" Trendowski

Number: #89

Position: Tight End

Year: Redshirt Senior

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 243

Hometown: Syracuse, NY

High School: Westhill H.S.

2010 Stats:  5 games played, no statistics accrued

2011 Projections: Trendowski has worked his way up from lowly walk-on to contributing special teams player, and his SU career should culminate as a solid member of the special teams unit. Syracuse's tight end corp is good, but not very deep. An injury here or there could end up getting him some time, but that's not something we're hoping for all that much.

How'd He Get Here: T-Money was a walk-on from a local Syracuse high school. He was named Class B West 1st Team, 3rd Team All State and two-time First-Team All-League. As a senior, he recorded 83 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles. Maybe we should have used his services on the defensive side. He also did some decent work on the basketball court.

What did Scout/Rivals Say?: Nothing. That's the point.

Money Quote: None that I can find.

Star-divide

Links of Wonder: Trendo doesn't have too many stats on the field but he's a multiple-time Big East Conference All-Academic Team member.

What Does Doug Marrone Think?:  "We have four guys right there, and we have (Thomas) Trendowski , who is not a scholarship player for us, who will be able to help us on short yardage and goal line. He did a nice job of that during the scrimmage." - Doug talking about the tight end position heading into the 2010 season.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Sure he's a big guy but that didn't stop Thomas from being an outdoor runner for high school team, as well.

Let Us Get a Good Look at You: Not much video out there with Tommy, so here's a look at his hand-eye coordination:

Next up is wide receiver Jarrod West, which should be coming to you later today.
