Joe Lunardi not a Scoop Jardine fan

Good Afternoon Joe: Is S.U. a final four team next year?
Joe Lunardi (2:17 PM)
On the list of contenders, Jerry, that's for sure. I think I'd like them more if Scoop was graduating.
From today's chat with Joe Lunardi on ESPN:

I know we all complain about Scoop, but that seems a bit harsh.

I might have echoed similar sentiments myself, so I can't particularly fault him.
Personally, I’m not in the “Scoop should leave” camp, I’m in the “Scoop is a good player, but not a great PG” camp. I want him on the team, but not necessarily responsible for running the offense (at least not when critical decision making is required). I don’t think we would be demonstrably better without him, so from that perspective it is a bit harsh of Lunardi.

Unfortunately
What Scoop did on the big stage was there for everyone to see, not just us. You can’t have your fourth-year junior making the mental mistakes of a freshman. Again… shots will be missed. A turnover will happen. But you can’t have a key, experienced guard have several instances of turnovers/being involved in turnovers that are attributed to someone else unfairly, poor shot selection, at least one charge per game, disregard for time/situation, etc. If he doesn’t get the mental part of the game controlled, Lunardi is right.
Count me skeptical. I still say 2012-2013 is the year for Syracuse. But even if 2011/12 Scoop = 2010/11 Scoop, next year will still be fun. We should make some noise. A lot more good times than bad.
Dictated, but not read.
We're going to need to get DaJuan Coleman at least.
And we’ll need another forward unless CJ Fair really improves.
Really?
CJ Fair is one of the brighter spots on the team for me. I personally think he was the best freshman we had this year and can see him easily becoming similar to Josh Pace but with more athleticism.
I agree.
And BMK after surgery should be a lot more consistent also. They both had games in which they were indispensable.

Maybe Scoop and his game will mature
and he’ll become the point guard we all know he can be, without the dumb turnovers.
Maybe? A fan can dream right?

Thats really snarky
for a guy not known for making harsh comments and being very factual in most of his writing. Scoop is a good player, just not a great PG. I met his dad during the NCAA regionals this year and his Dad is a really class act.
I keep saying
When a close game is coming down to the wire and the main thought in your head is “I hope the PG doesn’t eff it up” that’s not a great path to success. When your PG is the person you least want controlling the action something ain’t working right…
I know Triche has become more of a shooter then a ball handler
but 10 times out of 10 i want him with the ball at the end of games over Scoop
Sorry bro, but if that were the case we lose against Villanova
and Uconn in the BET wouldn’t have even been a game.
