We've been so concerned with wondering where Delone Carter is going to be drafted in the upcoming NFL Draft that many us never stopped to wonder about C Ryan Bartholomew. After his performance at this weekend's NFL Combine, we might now have to wonder which one of them will be drafted first.
On Friday, Bartholomew led all linemen with 34 repititions in the 225-pound bench press. On Saturday, he ran the fastest 20-yard shuttle of any lineman, showing terrific short-area quickness.
FOX Sports listed Bartholomew among its top five performers on Saturday. Draft Countdown said Bartholomew "opened some eyes." ESPN said "Bartholomew displays outstanding upper-body strength for a small interior offensive lineman (6-1, 305) and his effort will only help his cause."
Barty also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.97 seconds, just 0.04 seconds behind Jason Kelce. A reminder for you, Ryan weighs 302 pounds.
Before the draft, Barty was a fringe draftee. His performance this weekend probably sealed the deal that he'll hear his name called Draft Weekend.
Delone Carter had a decent day by all accounts. He ran the 40 in 4.56 seconds (11th amongst RBs), ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.07 (4th amongst RBs), hit 37 in the vertical jump (7th amongst RBs) and put up 27 reps in the bench press (4th amongst RBs).
We'll see what Derrell Smith and Doug Hogue can do in the coming days to improve their own draft stock.
