I haven't touched the Carmelo Anthony story too much because, well, everyone else and their mother is covering it (Tell your mom to stop hogging all the SEO traffic). But I suppose given his place in Syracuse lore and his fantastic form of "humility," we need to discuss it at least one.
Regardless of how things shake out, this will always be the best thing to come out of the entire Carmelo Anthony Trade Saga:
''I take my hat off to myself for dealing with all this stuff that’s going on and still be able to go out and play at the high level.''
I don't even have anything to add to it. It's perfect. Carmelo just gets better and better with age. Like Roquefort.
So it sounds like he's going to the Nets, who are in New Jersey but will eventually be in Brooklyn and probably won't be called the Nets anymore. If he does go, he'll be playing for a Russian billionaire and I guarantee you that the two of the them will hit the town together, providing us with everything we've ever wanted out of a buddy comedy.
For Cuse fans, it's a best-case scenario. Melo returns to the East Coast, specifically the NYC area where many of our alums are based and ready to worship at his alter once more.
Also, since the issue holding up getting Melo's jersey retired in the Dome seems to be availability, this would probably solve that. That's just one of the many possibilities DOC Gross is currently salivating at the thought of.
We'll see. I tip my hat to everyone, including myself, for waiting and seeing.
