My thoughts when I saw this this afternoon:
1) Of COURSE it’s a Range Rover
2) As a kid who lived on the Mount freshman year, I would be SO pissed to have to take the drunk steps every day in December during Finals.
3) HOW DRUNK WAS THIS PERSON??
4) This driver is incredibly lucky because if not for the stairs being there, they legit would have driven off the side of the Mount and ended up rolling down to the foot of Archibold/Carrier Dome
5) I fantasized many a night about jumping on the roof of the Dome (looks like a fluffy pillow from up there) — could this have been the impetus for the trajectory?

I was once in a drunken accident and you can't believe the tickets.
I got a ticket for failure to keep right ( I had exited the road into the grassy area to the right). I asked why that was so? I has gone waaaaaay right. I was informed it was because I had left the roadway.
I got ticketed for “speed improper and prudent.” I assured them that I was NOT going over the speed limit ( not even a lie). The response was that I was going too fast or I would not have gotten into an accident.
….. 3 more tickets later.
But they never got me for the DWI. It was a single car accident, no one involved no real property damage ( I was ticked for property damage … I left a skid mark in a grassed lawn … I kid you not).
Drunk driving? Whatever. Crashing into the mount stairs? Pfft. But failure to use the designated lane! What an asshole.
Also, I feel really bad for that overzealous freshman who through caution to the wind last night, went out instead of doing work after all of his boys were like “nah bro”, walked up and down Euclid for a few hours in the cold without finding any parties that would let him in, and then after a stop at Kimmel, decided to hike back up those stairs after 2 am only to find a Range Rover forcing him to go all the way down and around…
HAha that's a friggin walk!

not the first time
i saw this happen my junior year when i lived in flint as an RA. the guy who was driving told police, “i was driving, and i’m over 21.”
because we all know that once you turn 21, its obviously ok to drink and drive.
the accident wasn’t as destructive to the stairs as this most recent one, but it was bad for the car, which was of course an SUV. go figure.

Trying to come up with the best excuses for driving into the stairs.

Range Rover
My freshman year, I lived on the Mount. Definitely the poorest person up there.
My SENIOR year, we lived in an apartment on Comstock, and this stupid bitch (yes, she was) used to park her silver Range Rover in the driveway that led to the shared parking lot in the back, and leave it there all the time (thus blocking everyone else in). We referred to this girl simply as “Range Rover,” and cursed her name while laying on the car horn trying to get around the stupid $70,000 truck that her daddy bought her so that we could leave.
So yeah…I don’t like that person, even 13 years later.

A Range Rover....on the Mount
Yeah, not shocked.
Meh, I lived in B/B freshman year and South the last three.

First of all you don’t drive TO the Mount after drinking, you drive FROM the Mount- if you drive at all!
What’s better than a headlong burst from Flint or Day Hall, barely able to keep it together as you stumble down those stairs?
