Orange Watch: A unique Boeheim "milestone" on the horizon | The Juice Online
Well, here we are about to welcome 2012, 14 seasons later, the 36th year of Boeheim Ball, with an upcoming holiday break before what could be the final season of Big East play tipping next week, and off Thursday night’s win against Tulane to go to 13-0 for the nation’s top-ranked team, the Orange boss stands only eight wins away from moving past Rupp to become number four all-time (with four more victories than Jim Calhoun of 10-1 UConn as this article was published).

Syracuse University lacrosse team's list of lineup holes at midfield grew longer in the fall | syracuse.com
At the top of the list is the status of senior defensive short-stick midfielder Kevin Drew, considered among the best players in the game at his position. Drew was suspended indefinitely from the team in late October after he was charged by Syracuse police with driving while intoxicated, hit and run and resisting arrest. "One of your strengths coming back is Kevin, and now we don’t know what’s going to happen with Kevin," Desko said.

MBB | Carter-Williams impresses against Green Wave; Tomaszewski remains perfect from deep - Sports - The Daily Orange
"It's nice to be out there and play and have some extra minutes and have them get rest," Carter-Williams said. "I know the Big East is coming up and we're going to need them to be 100 percent."

"I think we’re ready for the Big East, yeah," declared Dion Waiters, who led the Orange with his 15 points. "They’re going to come out swinging and we’ve got to come out swinging right along with them. This is what you come to college for -- to play those kinds of games.

Andy Katz's Daily Word: Syracuse Orange persevere through off-court distractions - ESPN
A handful of close friends of Boeheim have told ESPN.com that they haven't talked to him by phone and had limited if any text message correspondence. He is in his own personal lock down. It makes sense. His trusted inner circle has to be extremely tight at this point.

Syracuse Post-Standard basketball beat writer Mike Waters recaps the Orange's win over the Tulane Green Wave.

He is

And nothing to take away from his accomplishments, but they come with a big askterisk. Yeah, Rupp one a shit ton of games. But he did it at a time when there were maybe 10 good basketball teams in the country. The same with John Wooden. Winning 88 straight games and a billion titles is impressive. But, at the time, college basketball was UCLA….

And that’s not to mention that Rupp was a racist bigot.

you could say mens basketball in Wooden and Rupp's era was like women's basketball is right now

few good teams, mostly bad teams with no talent

You keep chanting one more year, I thought college was four years

more like Wilt

Or even George Mikan. The first center to really dominate purely out of sheer size. Don’t get me wrong, Griner can play. But no women’s player has had her combination of size and skill.

I don't recall ever seeing Cheryl Miller play

I just know that she’s pretty much a living legend among women’ players. Griner is what, a junior this season? Bigs take longer to develop and since 6’8" for a woman is like 7’4" for a man, I think that we’ve yet to see what she’s fully capable of.
