Syracuse 80 - Tulane 61: Orange In White Beat Green Wave In Blue

If you go to your bookie before every game and say, "Give me a dime on Syracuse winning tonight by the score of 80-61," this is your time.

Dion Waiters scored 15 points, Kris Joseph had 13 and No. 1 Syracuse coasted to an 80-61 victory over Tulane on Thursday in its third game in six days and second-straight victory by that score.

James Southerland added 10 points for Syracuse and Brandon Triche had nine.

Facing their final non-league opponent of the regular season, the Orange won their 31st straight home game outside the Big East. They moved to 10-0 at home and pulled within six wins of the best start in program history.

Kendall Timmons scored 16 points to lead Tulane (11-2) while Ricky Tarrant had 15 and Jordan Callahan added 10.

Syracuse shot 51 percent from the floor and almost 48 percent (10-of-21) from three-point range.

The Orange ended the first half on a 19-0 run, stretching their 22-19 lead to 41-19 at the break. They buried five three-pointers during the surge, getting two apiece from Southerland and Triche.

Any time Syracuse can put together more run than the other team, that's a good thing to Jim Boeheim.

"That's the game of basketball," said Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim when asked about SU's recent ability to easily put together a consecutive string of points, "not just this team, but every team I think we've had. Basketball is pretty much a game of runs. I think that's pretty much what it always has been."

James Southerland thinks everyone in the Carrier Dome should be vaccinated because the Syracuse offense isa virus:

"I feel like our offense is kind of contagious,’’ Southerland said. "Once one finds a way to get it going, everyone else gets it going. We have a lot of guys who can score offensively and that’s all it takes sometimes is for one guy to get it going.’’

Every single person on the active roster played...except Mookie Jones again. I get that Mookie is a nice guy and wants to the let the walk-ons get in but, he knows that he not starting for us once Big East play begins, right? He realizes he won't get many more chances to see the court this season, no? Can someone please tell him to get in there?

The win sealed up a third week in a row as the No. 1 team in all the land. Up next for the 13-0 Orange are the Seton Hall Pirates. They ship into town on Wednesday the 28th
