In looking back at the win over the West Virginia Mountaineers, one of the X-factors had to be the Carrier Dome crowd. The Friday Night game brought out 45K+, the largest home crowd in three years, and it showed.
The players noticed.
"Me being a freshman, I was in awe," said Jeremiah Kobena, the Syracuse rookie who contributed 68 all-purpose yards to the cause. "When I came on the field, I was in awe. It was amazing. But we didn’t let the fans overwhelm us. We came out and we played hard and we won. It was a magical night."
And Doug Marrone noticed as well.
"I think the fans were a big part of helping us win. It matters. It matters to these kids. These kids care about this community. This University cares about the community. It’s great to have people out there, and we feel that the core values of this program reflect not only the University, but also the community. Credit to those fans. They helped us win this game, and a game ball goes to them, as well."
And so, with another Friday Night game ahead of us and the squad reeling after two tough losses and the need to get another win and get bowl-eligible at the top of our list, Syracuse wants to make sure everyone comes out against to watch us beat the South Florida Bulls.
