This is bizarre. The two odd bits:
1) Davis said he did not identify Fine or even SU Basketball in his initial complaint to Fox. Just that an employee of Syracuse University had sexually abused. He claims Fox said he thought he knew who he meant.
This in itself is odd for a few reasons. Were there rumors about Fine back then? Such strong rumors that he was able to be cherry picked out of the over 5000 employees? That seems far fetched (but devastating to the SPD if true).
To me, it seems like a detail added by Davis to make his story more compelling. I am horribly biased, though.
2) Davis claims to have notified the DA's office, but they never returned his call. This makes the DA look a teeny bit foolish, but there should also be a record of that call (and the lack of a return call). Did both the SPD and the DA's office refuse any kind of follow up in 2002, without any knowledge that Fine or SU Basketball were involved? This would certainly mitigate the "Duvall factor."
Any ways, this seems terribly damaging to either the SPD and Onondaga County DA, or to Davis' story.
