A thought crossed my mind this morning. What if everyone is right about these conspiracy theories?

What if the step brother is full of it, and is just trying to make a buck, and got talked into coming out about something that isn't true because he's a drunk and/or drug addict? What if ESPN rushed to report a story so it could scoop all the other networks and control the sports/news agenda once more? What if Bobby Davis made some things up to sensationalize his story and only brought it up again because he thought he would get money in the wake of the Penn State scandal?

But even if there are all these lies that discredit everyone involved, what if there is still SOME truth to it?

What if Bobby Davis took his story - about Fine allegedly molesting him - to the authorities in 2002/03 and they dismissed him because the statute of limitations ran out? What if ESPN and The Post-Standard dismissed his claims too, because there wasn't another victim to corroborate it?

What if Bobby Davis was the only person Bernie Fine molested? That wasn't good enough for ESPN and The Post-Standard. So he had to get more. Another victim. More graphic details. A better news story to connect it with.

Does that make Bobby Davis a liar? Yes. 

But does it also mean Bernie Fine is a monster and should (key word) spend the rest of his days in jail? If any piece of this is true, then yes.

Writer's note: I'm not saying any of this is what I believe happened in this case. I'm merely suggesting another whackjob conspiracy theory, like everyone else. Put aside your 'Cuse bias for a second, and admit that this is at least every bit as possible as ESPN conspiring to rule the world by ruining Bernie Fine.
