Syracuse Football: Catching Up With the Commits - Brantley is Unstoppable in Overtime Loss
Alvin Cornelius (WR, 6'3", 190) continues his run through New York City, helping Tottenville (9-1) in their 31-0 win over Brooklyn Technical. Cornelius has been running the ball more. He carried six times for 25 yards and a touchdown, and intercepted a pass.
Harold Brantley (DT, 6'3", 280) struggled a bit on offense as his Hershey (8-3) squad headed into overtime, with the game knotted up at 20 against Red Land. Hershey coach Mark Painter didn't waiver, however, in his trust in Brantley, and gave the bruising fullback a touch on every play of overtime. Brantley was a bit outshined by his Red Land counterpart John Ford who ran for 232 yards and five touchdowns, Brantley had a great performance in his own right. He ran 15 times for 80 yards, 30 of which were in overtime, and scored 3 TDs on the ground, ending each overtime series. It was Red Land who decided to finally go for two, and they converted, winning the game after three overtimes. Brantley also caught a pass for 26 yards and a touchdown, and was a monster on defense, where he recorded eight tackles and two sacks.

kid has got me excited, Sto-Rox looks like a beast!
Since the early 1990's I have not been able to get Mike Hopkins' bloody face out of my brain. I don't remember what game it was but I'll never forget that as my first memory of SU basketball. Mike Hopkins, bloody face, bloody nose, all for the love of Syracuse.
Harold Brantley
are we sure he is going to play DT? I only ask because the kid seems to be a hell of a runner. Yes, we need bodies at DT, but if he were to come in and drop 20 lbs he would be a dominant FB. My buddy from home, Shane Bannon went to Yale to play DT, and they converted him to FB. It worked out because KC picked him in last years draft.
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
Can we be sure of anything in this life?
I don’t know. He’s a pretty ridiculous runner, but personally, I think that DTs are generally more valuable than FBs, and having a freak athlete like Brantley (4.7 40 at 280…the kid returned a kick for a TD a few weeks back) on the D-Line would be pretty tremendous. I guess I could see us trying to line him up in some packages, but with AAM I think we have our short yardage guy for a while.
Now I can see him playing both DT and DE on the line, and that possibility excites me.
